Okay forget about the form I'd put it in with

A1 tab B1 return
A2 tab B2 return
A3 tab B3 return

etc - and now don't really see the problem, thought you meant something complicated

Yeah this.

Either that or use your right and down cursors as they're closer together than tab and enter.

You press enter with your right little finger and tab with your left one.

If you use the arrow keys the return will just put you on the line below in the same column, if you tab then return it puts you on the line below in the column that you started with.

If Stu has a faster way of doing it than tab and return it would be interesting.

I use a program called 'Powerpro' on my PC.  It does loads of stuff (clipboard extender, gives me additional menus to access programs, recent documents and folders with a single click, etc.), including the ability to create macros for keyboard entries or mouse movements or clicks.  You can set these macros to work all the time, or only on specific windows or applications.

If there's something I need to do in Excel that is repetitive, I often create a macro in PowerPro and I can map this to a specific keyboard button (or combination of buttons) - so I can map the F1 button to send 'return, down, right, right right' (or whatever) to Excel.

You guys really don't know about typing in spreadsheets!!!

it took me about a second to type data in the cells, in the order, by just clicking on the cells like I suggested.

random thought up data , with any realistic inputting constraints, yes

what about where you are catching random bits of data - having to input, not make mistakes because you have no way to recall, and need to have 99% accuracy?

If you really think I didnt try key pad first ..........................
