Can you customise the "auto move" of the cursor/cell selector to jump in a non uniform manner - ie not just l/r u/d?

no, I am going to be typing in numbers, but rather than the cell selector just go down to the next box, or sideways to the next box, i want it to move in a specific order when i hit enter

you can just type in a number then click on the next cell you want to type in - you don't ned to press enter. Don't understand what the prob is.

he means you enter data in a column, type info press enter, it moves down one in the column.
he wants to have it go where he wants.
if it doesn't change each time or use a formula, then it should auto do it as you manually select the first few I thought. so if you enter in column and then click to the cell 3 over and down one, in future it should move like that as you enter data I thought. maybe this is not applicable to post 03 excel though. I dunro.

I know how to change it from down to up, right and left etc. (Options, advanced, after pressing enter, move selection - Choose dropdown)
But what do you mean in a non uniform manner? You want it just go anywhere randomly? Why? This I do not know how to do.

I know that. I'm saying he doesn't need to press enter he just types in the data in cell b5 or whatever then without pressing enter clicks on cell
and types his next bit.

If it's to do with data entry then you can a create a form in excel which will probably cover what you want, although I've never bothered so you'd need to use the help menu to see how.

Assuming he may want to put the numbers in quite quickly.

an excellent assumption and the motion is ziggy zaggy
A1 B1
A2 B2
A3 B3
so like a1 b1 a2 b2 a3 b3

Can't you just put your data in A1 then use your mouse to click in B1 and put your data in there though?

Okay forget about the form I'd put it in with
A1 tab B1 return
A2 tab B2 return
A3 tab B3 return
etc - and now don't really see the problem, thought you meant something complicated

Yeah this.
Either that or use your right and down cursors as they're closer together than tab and enter.
