Ah OK. Bit different then. Seems fairly straightforward to stop it collecting data.

Don't get me started on this!

If you disable, remove and don't allow bookmakers to install iesnare on your machine, you are flagged up and your account will be restricted in double quick time.

So sick that a company founded by the man who stole millions of dollars from UB poker players is used by bookies to stop "undesireables" betting with them.

My advice about how to avoid getting captured by iesnare:

1. Don't let anyone else log into their bookmakers account on your PC.

2. If you are limited/restricted by one bookmaker, don't log into your accounts with other bookmakers on the same PC.

3. Do not click through to a bookmaker from oddschecker.

4. If you are betting with a bookmaker, don't be logged onto Betfair on the same PC at the same time.

I'm sure there are others, I'll post them if I remember them.

PS By "undesireables" I mean anyone who has half a clue.

Haven't seen any evidence that bookies use iovation for anything other than fraud prevention.

In a previous life I was pretty into iovation and what they can do for device fingerprinting etc.

It's a legitimate aim.

Ofc using it as people are alleging would be bad, and I've seen worrying comments on FB from friends who are traders/compilers in Gib....but still no actual evidence as its use.

If you go to the www.iovation.com main page and scroll down a bit you will see them listing "Arbitrage betting" as one of the things they can stop with this software.  I am not passing judgement either way on an arber but theres clearly a big difference between "fraud" and "arbitrage betting".

How about if you allow the cookies etc on to your machine, but just do the host file edit to stop the messages getting to the ipsnare server?

I've got a mate who is a fiver and tenner punter.

He's been betting with one of the online firms for 10+ years.

He was at the house of a big punter and asked if he could use his computer. He logged onto the bookmakers site for a bet.

Next time he logged on, he was restricted to pennies.

That is not a coincidence IMO

Cannot answer that. My knowledge of computers is less comprehensive than Tikay's.
