There is an argument that the warnings on the packets should be removed as they are "statistically" correct but factually incorrect.

Of course not.

I'm reading this thread whilst listening to the news that Cadbury's are putting 'Health Warnings' on chocolate bars.

and I still chuckle at 'Warning contents might be hot' on cups of coffee after that woman successfully sued Maccie D's

Sorry Ginger...bit off topic. For what its worth I enjoyed the show you participated in and actually thought that it was relatively well balanced.

If the new show has any sponsorship attached I'd be happy to wear a skirt!

Isn't it about time they exposed the real dangers of The National Lottery and scratchcards ?

I mean these really target people who cannot afford to gamble with massive advertising budgets.

Drive through any poorer arear and the only thing that seems to survive are the fruit machines arcards
and the shop that sells the lotto, people want to gamble this way for a quick rush. I bet if this type of gambler
were made to stop playing instant win games i.e Lotto, fruit Machines etc and made to play poker they would die of
boredam. Also the Govement will never support poker because there aren't  any tax implications. Only the players are in
a win/lose situation.

I think this will make a very interesting programme and I think the dangerous of getting into serious debt SHOULD be highlighted.

I learnt to play poker online, for a long time I played on the play tables mostly to chat and have a laugh, I promised myself NEVER to play for cash but as I won more and more on play tables I thought why not give it a go.

I started on $1 stts and found I either did really well or bombed out early. I realise now I was playing like a complete fish but still I was winning and didn't care.

A friend took me aside and showed me how to play "properly", he told me that I didnt have to play every hand, only to play in position, with good hands etc and this is where it all went badly wrong.

I folded my 7/2 os to see it hit a full house, my 6/8 to see it hit a straight etc and i went on tilt BIG TIME loosing game after game then going higher stake to try and win back my losses which of course I would loose. My confidence went completely to the stage I was scared to play a hand and I realised it was time to give up and cut my losses.

That was when I found blonde...i spent hours reading the hand analysis threads trying to learn from each one. I have found out where a lot of good freerolls are and day by day I get a little bit better but more to the point im not spending money i cant afford.

I didn't get into debt playing poker because I think when you have kids there is a line you HAVE to draw. Had I been single with no responsibilities it might have been very different.

Yes I feel guilty thinking I should have spent the money on my kids but poker is a learning curve and hopefully one day I will get back what I have put in.....

.......but lets face it....once you are hooked you are well and truely HOOKED
