this sentencing sounds about right (without being controversial, maybe a bit tougher than i would have expected from the courts)

the only problem is that there is such inconsistency between reckless driving and drink driving - some get sentences, some just get bans etc.

I would like to see a far higher level of consistency

I read on another site that this is Naz's 4th driving conviction/ban. He was lucky to get 15 months.

Maximum sentence you can get for a driving offence is 5 years so in the scheme of things I think its "fair" However I would like to see more severe penalties handed out for driving convictions.

Steeley68 will agree with me when I say that some drivers are plane thick and don;t understand that by exceeding the speed limit it makes them a bad driver, this has a bearing on your insurance policies and there are drivers who don't understand thatd riving fast and beyond the legal limit makes them more likely to be involved in a smash they quantify it by saying everyone has a speeding conviction.

Thats pure nonsense there not everyone has been caught speeding and not everyone speeds!!

Sounds like a fair sentence.  Although had he killed the other guy, a max. of 5 years would of been very light indeed.

Everybody does or has broken speed limits.  There are occasions when it is safe to do so, 80mph on an empty motorway in clear weather for example.  Crossing an unbroken white line at 90mph on the brow of a hill is perhaps not the greatest idea.

It's the un-insured, un-taxed that really wind me up.

So by the attitude of some on here what you are saying is that you have broken the speed limit?

Not every driver has broken the speed limit thats absolute nonsense, how can you quantify that?

If it where safe to break the speed limit then their wouldn't be speed restrictions in place.

What really annoys me are these manufacturers that make cars that go in excess of a 100 mph, there is no need for it - it breaks the speed limit!

Or even better are the numpties who increase their break horse power in a vehicle so can go faster, whats the point?
