The Laddies Spammer strikes again......
«

The self-same pop-up that arose yesterday & caught one or 2 guys off-guard has just re-appeared on Laddies.
"The first 10 players to visit this site will win $10,000"....
It's a simple "system Message" & gives a www. addy.
The addy is VERY similar to the real Laddies address.
Please do NOT click "OK", whatever you do.
It has popped-up 3 more times whilst I am Posting this.

Beat me too it tikay, just saw it too
The longer this goes on, the more traffic on the site MUST be affected
Hope they manage to sort it quick for their own sakes

I have left the cash game I was in and will do whenever the spammers/hackers are in town. I know we all get reassured about the rng etc but I can't help wondering if someone is clever enough to get into a secure site like ladbrokes then why cant they get at the cards? I just won a daddy sat for $10 for tonight otherwise I wouldn't be playing on there till they sort this out. Back to betfair only for the time being I think which is a shame as I think the comps on laddies are very good and well structured.

Unfortunately, the same thing happened on Betfair the other day.

I imagine it's just the chat part that has been compromised, they probably just bolted it on with no thought to security (as it's not really a risk).
The hackers probably just figured out what they had to send to where to make the program display it (by monitoring what their client sent recieved) and bingo!

Hi Russ,
A good point. I think the RNG will be running on a seperate high security server. I'm guessing the pop-up messages are through a different machine. All the same it doesn't inspire confidence does it?

I dont know if it works in the same way as on Tribeca but they could have just hacked a hosts account who has the ability to send the messages. If they have taken over their computer they would have the ability to send/use the programs necessary to send the msgs.

adding a pop up doesn't require getting into the site at all, just have pop ups b lock but accept ones from laddies and it shouldn't even appear

Question for a teckie:-
When you go to a web address, lets say you clicked on the $30,000,000 dodgy BBC web address that was on Ladbrokes, can that site automaticly download a virus or do you have to physically click on a link on that page to receive it ?
In other words, if you typed in a web address into the Explorer bar at the top of Internet Explorer, could that page automaticly download a virus ?
The common sense answer is YES - but think about it, surely when you load a web page thats all you're doing, not physically downloading a file unless you click on a link which is a "downloadable file" ....
I ask this in relation to someones post earlier that they went to the web address, realised that it probably is dodgy and quickly closed the window. If the site was dodgy then surely the .exe (virus) file wouldn't stop downloading just because you closed the window ?
By the way, there is a spate of advertising thingies going on at the moment where your normal windows screen is replaced by a blue screen (still with icons) and a note in the middle saying that your computer has been infected. It also tells you your IP address (which is incorrect) and the system you are using (easily got!) Also it says click on the following link to find out how to stop the problem. This sends you to a "spyware" advertising page enticing people to order a product.
If you get this, which lots of people apparently have, copy the first line of the message into google or yahoo search and there are many sites that will delete it for you... It is NOT a virus, just a nasty advertising ploy....

My brother had this on his laptop - something must have been downloadable on it as it hijacked his laptop, I had to reformat the damn thing for him - he had no firewall, no AV software, no spyware software on the lappy. Needless to say when it went back to him it was loaded up with all sorts of protection. If I could of found a condom to fit it, it would have been wearing one of those too.

That's what we initially thought we had to do - went off searching for disc's and things, then did a quick search on Norton and Symantec which resulted in nothing - then did the simple search on google and found the solution.
The comp is working fine now and we have performed many many tests to make sure there isn't anything now left....
The condom - excellent idea - maybe you should talk to microsoft !! hehe
