Re: the exposed 6
 Reply #14 on: May 10, 2005, 08:27:39 pm

Just as a small aside, while at the new broadway casino in sunny brum the dealer dealt the flop, i went allin (trip 6's) a good pal of mine called (flush draw) and a.n. other called (dunno).
He then dealt another 2 cards face up then burnt 1 then dealt another 2!!!!
Amid plenty of cries (he did it very quickly) to no avail.
Basically i was given the hand and the cards mucked (again VERY quickly) by the dealer, he said even though he dealt too many the burn cards were correct and so the hand was fine.
We all protested (even me!! i know, i know) this was not so, my pal actually won the hand with a flush but because he'd scooped the cards the hand was deemed over by the cardroom manager.
Now, the point of all this is that this cost my friend a 20 buyin thru the fault of an inept dealer (he was inept at Walsall before leaving!!!) but...................
The cardroom manager refunded my pals 20!!!!!!!!!
Waddya think of that? ?
Is this the way to go?
Should the casino pay for their own mistakes?
Ian

BTW the casino manager heard we had a problem and approached us a little later and gave us complimentary meals for us and partners!!
How cool is that!!

Well obviously it's not ever gonna happen again, i just think the combo of a new casino opening trying to keep and attract custom and an (i think) inexperienced cardroom manager created a fairly unique situation.
I agree with you Tikay that you CANNOT go down the road of paying back possible prize money etc for all the reasons you say and more.
I see no reason though for a casino not to offer some sort of token gesture (a round of drinks, a meal, diamond encrusted rolex etc.) for a genuine dealer error that results in a major injustice for some poor soul.
It's not like they don't make money out of that person in the first place and could ensure future business.
I gotta say the free meals were totally unexpected and a most welcome and refreshing attitude from a casino, i'll certainly be going back to play their comps and hopefully they will build up their attendances to a good level.
Be interesting to hear from the blackpool grosvenor boys on this, is there a casino policy maybe?
Ian

Right........ where do I start..........

Firstly the dealer in question had just started there and he was "ALLEGIDLY" a card room supervisor at Junction 10 and had got years of experience.....although I never employed him!!

Second BOY WHAT A HUGE COCK UP!!! I understand that dealers make errors but this took the biscuit. This was the most Bizarre error that I have ever seen...or not as i had to be told by everyone what had happened as it was over within seconds, before I got to the table.

As far as I am aware this was the cicumstance...

Pre flop raises (usual)
burnt card 3 up round of betting (usual) large pot including an all in.
This is where it gets completely mystifying. For some reason the dealer now burns and turns over 2 exposed cards... and not stopping there...burnt another and turned another amidst cries from everyone gave the pot to someone then destroyed the flop all in one action... Active players even still had chips!!!!

Questioned, the dealer said his mind wasn't on the game.......no shit!! Even whilst I went over to sort the situation out the dealer was nonchenantly shuffling up for the next hand..me don't thinks.... he was last seen dealing on American Roulette 1.

Now I have been in cardrooms for 18 years ran comps for 15 years managed card rooms for 5 years (maybe I am inexperienced but my cardrooms are run in the interest of the game and in the interest of fairness) I take Tk's point that it is dodgy ground doing something like this in terms of precidents and to be honest I totally agree. I was actually toying with the idea of underhanded sabotage from a PLC but dismissed this as even too far fetched for me to believe. Needless to say the only cards he deals now is on blackjack and he is not the brightest bulb in the pack there!!

What am i to do? This involved 2 new customers that had come down to experience " The Broadway Experience" What a start!!!!

I am very proud of the standard of dealing at the Broadway they are now all a credit to the club.

I hold my hands up to the extent it was my fault no one was watching him as I foolishly believed he was a top jolly dealer.

I Apologise, but could people post and tell me what they would have done in the very same situation. Even though I don't think it will happen again...lightening cannot strike twice in the same place.....can it?

cheeky git Iron, and thanks for callin me repected lol you obviously dont know me hehehe.

The whole exposed 6 topic was about an incident that occured during our may festival.

As a rule i try to avoid commenting on other supervisors decisions as i feel it isnt my place to pass judgement on them, as we all do things differently. But as you asked i don't see anything wrong with what you did at all.

OMG this was ages ago!!
I like the hero member bit in the quotes  Cheesy
The strange thing is he was dealing in the same comp on the table behind and had just been "rotated" then told everyone after the mistake he hadn't dealt in ages!!  Huh?
I knew the fella from walsall and well everyone knows him!!
BTW big Dave is a gem of a dealer as are all the others i've experienced there, say hello from me and do you happen to know how he did in vegas?
Mistakes happen and are an inevitable part of the game and the only reason i posted it was the incredible gesture!!
See ya soon,
Ian

p.s. was i the first person to win a comp outright (no deal) at the broadway? it was the strange reaction i got....
"who won?"
"i did"
"really?"
"yeah"
"outright?"
"yeah"
"wow"

Hmm. I've noticed that there are a couple of dealers that no longer work at walsall. I reckon I have a shortlist of suspects.  Lips Sealed
