Thanks Sark,

Yes you are right about the slavery connection. In the late 19th Century the importance & value of hardwood timber, meant Europeans headed off to Brazil & other South American countries to make fortunes, & they used the local people as cheap labour, & treated them as slaves.

I've tried clocks-towers-south america & other variations on google image & no match.

I found a clock tower earlier in Mississippi that looked similar. We may be getting somewhere  Cheesy.  It could be the Caribbean, South of American  or the USA...lol  .

yes laz, i've considered that, in fact it was my first thought that it's in the southern states, but a friend of mine in the USA teaches American History, & her opinion was that its not America (she explained why in a long email), so i've been following other leads.

thanks laz.

keep any thoughts coming.

ok,  in one of the pics ( the first one of the clock ) in the far left. There seems to be a car or something that looks like a car. Maybe a Model-T.  This might just be my eyes playing tricks with me  Cheesy. In this case, it may be slightly later around 1918 ish, and America.

In the other pic. There are palm trees ( Florida or the Caribbean, West Indies ).  There is a telephone pylon and an electricity pylon ( probably the southern US ) .

Yea I think you are right. It is Caribbean, rather than South American.

What kind of pylons are they?

telegraph poles?

might sound daft but what about New Orleans?

Yea you could be right Trace.  We will add it to the growing list  Cheesy

ok, so we know that it isn't Russia, Europe , Australasia, Middle East and the Far East.  Everywhere else is a possibility.

Well Nemisis, its a hell of a guess. Looking at a map, I can see why there looked to be a Carribean feel to the place.
