I’ll tell you a little story about Simon Trumper. About 4 years ago, when I was just starting out, I used to play a £10 re-buy at Annabelle’s in Coventry. We used to get about 25 runners, 1000 starting chips, and a 15-minute clock. The players themselves were the biggest bunch of leg pullers and piss takers ever assembled. One evening at about 8:45, I was standing at the bar, waiting for the comp to start, when who should walk in but Simon.

Late Night poker was responsible for getting me hooked on the game in the first place, and suddenly, one of the stars of the show had just entered the same comp that I had. I was in awe of him, he was the first player “Off the telly” that I had ever seen. The rest of the guys weren’t so shy. They ribbed him mercilessly, and extracted every bit of Michael that they possibly could, but Simon took it all with a good grace, and gave as good as he got. He finished 5th for about £50, which he promptly donated to the waitresses. It was a fantastic night, especially for me.

Why was a player of Simons stature playing a £10 re-buy in deepest Coventry? He was there to promote an online card room that was sponsoring him at the time.

Whether it’s a £10 re-buy or a $10,000 main event, Simon gives it all he’s got. His sponsors can be sure he will give them 100% He’s great value for money.

  Red!

Simon knocked me out of the very first live poker tournament I ever played, at the Gutshot P4C event last year. First he nicked my blind with rags, then he knocked me out with pocket tens (I had an ace, and being a newbie, didn't realise he was all-in already before I moved in from the small blind... doh!)

It was *only* a £25 entry £10 rebuy comp, but there was proper poker to be played, and Mr. Trumper was certainly playing it better than I!
