My eldest came home from school last night - gone was his school tie that denoted what year he was - in it's place was a brand spanking new

PREFECT'S TIE!!!

I'm so chuffed.

I was never at school enough in my last couple of years to make Prefect (town centre was more appealing), so I'm well chuffed for him!!!

I hate to spoil your mood Trace, but I was also a prefect.

I don't know what his school is like, but at mine it was quite apparent that they were not a reflection on responsible students, but merely just gave them to all the lads who were 6ft tall.

I think they believed that we would have a little more 'influence' when it was requireded that a particular area was out of bounds!

My son's school used to have a terrible reputation when I was that age, but now it is a fantastic school.  The kids had to fill in a form telling the school why they thought they should be a prefect - only the good kids got the tie.

My eldest respects me, my youngest is learning - the hard way - but he's learning.

My kids lack of manners has been mentioned to me once or twice in the past - and it bothered me a little, but now I don't give a stuff - so they forget to say please and thank you to me every now and then - I'm mega proud of them in other ways for other more important things.

How many 15 year old boys do you know will quite happily give their mum a kiss to say bye in front of their mates!  lol

OK I'm rambling......
