Well -we kicked off a bit late because of the terrible traffic problems that held several players up. We eventually started nearly an hour late with 60 runners who had all paid £1500 to sit down and play giving a prize pool of £90000.
The clock was an hour, the chips 15000 and the blinds 25-50 so everybody could have the opportunity to play poker.

Johnny Chan was applauded into the room to the sound of Bonnie Tylers song "Holding Out for a Hero" and the room was buzzing with anticipation. To all of you in Barcelona, Ireland or Sheffield you missed out on a special night. Each player had an orange at his seat to level out the Johnny Chan effect. Johnny himself loved the atmosphere of a London card room and looked extremely relaxed.

The first level finished and last nights winner Stuart Nash crashes out -probably due to the fact that he had been playing all last night, all this afternoon and he aint getting any younger. With a field that included Jim Reid, Euan Jones,Simon Trumper,Bambos,Willie Tan, Jonny Wong, Ian Dobson, Derek Baxter, Philip Marmorstein,Greekfish,Jeff Duval, Alan Vinson,Brian Johnson,Steve Bovis there were not many fish on offer.

The main event is now WITHOUT Johnny Chan. First he ran into Ian Dobson who hit a straight on the river and then he got knocked out by Luke Patten in seat 1 on a table that also had Willie Tan and Simon Trumper.

Well it was great while it lasted!!

Update

24 players left in the Main Event

Chip Counts as follows:-

Trevor Reardon 27100
Alan Vinson 21900
Ian Woodley 21800
Dave Mobbs 30900
Paul Murrell 23800
Matt Dale 50500
D.Rudling 60800
Luke Patten 84900
Ash Hussein 21400
David Lloyd 37800
J.Kerrigan 52300
Willie Tann 14700
R.Fronda 37200
H.Lossock 26300
Dave Binstock 26000
Des Jonas 23400
S.Reihill 63700
Jeff Rogers 41200
Alex Nyezi 43600
Theo Dalton 11000
J.Abrahams 9700
J.Adamson 73500

Well thats the last 24 and still plenty to play for -including 2 tickets to the Johnny Chan Turks & Caicos trip worth $8500 each.
At the moment because Alex Nyezi (a regular Western Club Member) is top of the current leaderboard he would only have to reach the final table to get his ticket. Dave Binstock -another Western regular (we love you Dave) also has a great chance if he reaches the top 9.
This has been an interesting Festival week and we have learnt a great deal. We hope everyone who has attended has enjoyed the surroundings, the structure and the service. If anybody has any queries, criticisms or anything to say, we will listen!
Please email me geoff@thewesternclub.com
Today I should have the chance to report regularly, apologies for the rest of the week but with the satellites running every aftern

Thanks Geoff.

I'm so jealous, I just could not get down there in time. I did not finish in Sheffild (working, not playing!) until 9pm, so it was a no-no in the end.

Keep the Reports coming.

Theo Dalton goes out in 24th but after an hour and a half we still have all the others playing. This is real poker with the blind structure and the clock -nobody can complain that they couldnt play poker in this event.

23rd Alan Vinson goes out with AQ against AK with 2 kings hitting the table.
22nd Dave Rudling crashes
21st The leader of the points for Turks & Caicos tickets Alex Nyezi goes out after 2 bad calls

Now Alex is hoping that he can hold on to the ticket.

Those that affect him are Dave "Lord" Binstock , Dangerous Des Jonas, Paul "Muzzy" Murrell and Ian Woodley (the first person to win a £1million on a quiz show)

So it is 7pm and we still have 20 left.

Cash games running if anyone is interested?

Nearly 8pm, the players and spectators enjoyed a complimentary Roast Sunday Dinner and we went back to the tables.

Dave Mobbs went out in 19th
Muzzy Murrell went out in 18th.

Dave Binstock raised with KK and Jeff Rogers went all in with AA, Ian Woodley had already passed 99,
Dave looked at Jeff and said "I think you beat me -I cant call" and passed KK - not many players could do that but Lord Binstock was correct and although he is down to 18k he is still in the comp.

For all Matt Dale fans -he has 125000 chips -SHURELY NOT!!!!

The very last hand of the night goes to Dewi James, who finds ACES and talks Raymond O’Mahoney into calling his all-in preflop bet of 15k.  “If I had AQ, I’d call!” says Dewi.  Raymond calls holding pocket 66’s.

Dave Binstock went out in the most cruel way to David (J) Lloyd.
Dave called all in with A9 and Dave Lloyd showed A9 as well.
rag club rag DL has Ace Clubs
Runner Runner club and Dave "Lord" Binstock is out.
Very cruel because he needed a top 9 finish for the $8500 package to Turks & Caicos Islands.
Our own man Alex Nyezi is now guaranteed to be there now but even he was sad to see Dave go out in such a way.

PJ Scheiner goes out and now there are 12 left

David J Lloyd 105k
S.Reihill 95k
Jeff Rogers 88k
Trevor reardon 5k
Javeed Abrahams 24k
Jules Adamson 150k
Luke Patten 210k
Matt Dale 29k
Jim Kerrigan 80k
Willie Tan 30k
Greekfish 35k
Ryan Frondu 28k

I'm out, and absolutely and utterly gutted lol Cheesy

I had 150k chips and chip leader by at least 30k chips. There are 14 runners left, and the average stack is around 65k.

Then comes the fateful hand...

I get dealt AK of clubs in early positon. First to act (Luke Patten) raises to 9k. I count his chips and estimate them at 65k or so, so raise another 30k. Everyone else folds, and he goes all-in.

Turns out he has another 65k+ and once everyone else has folded round to him, he chucks em all in.

I think he has one of a range of hands - in order of likeliness: AK, AQ, AJ, Pair QQ>99, absolute bluff.

Weighing up all the options, I decide I have to call, leaving me with a minnow stack of 15k or so.

Luke flips AK of hearts... The assembled crowd say "After all that!! A split pot!!!?!"

Flop comes 2 hearts and a black card.

Turn comes a diamond, and Luke says "ah split pot".

Then, in a moment of genious I decide to Bokk myself big-stylee saying "actually, no. A heart on the river would win it for you."

I don't need to write the rest lol Sad

Still, a great event, and loads of fun. Just wished I'd held on when I had 150k. There was no reason to get involved in any pot for 2 hours or more, and I'd have made the final table with 100k easily.

Look forward to the next festival at The Western. Congratulations to Geoff, Philip, all the dealers, catering and all the rest of the Western crew for an incredible event.

Tonights winner will recieve £35,000 plus an added value ticket of $8,500 for the Jonny Chan Invitational in The Turks & Caicos Islands. Lucky bastard! Smiley
