So there i was, watching PNL, when an interesting story caught my attention.
There is a company now providing a freeware tool to help protect us from threats such as trojans, pop-ups and collusion, when we play poker online.
It is called "The Poker Bodyguard", and apparently works with most poker networks and sites and runs in the background as you play. The company providing this free product/service say they monitor the play on the sites their software works with 24/7, and will flag any seemingly dishonest play in their database.
So when you join a table, the software queries the company's database, and if any of the players at your table have been flagged, the software will tell you there are suspicious.
It also provides a poker firewall to help block out poker site viruses, pop-ups and other threats. And provides to ability to record and replay your play at the virtual felt.
Sounds great, and it's FREE !
But that is where i have a problem, call me a cynic, i prefer realist, but i do not believe in free lunches. No disrespect to the company behind such an idea, in fact the creation of such a programme in my eyes is simply fantastic, anything to make users feel safer at the table.
But what does this company get out of the deal? I think i will wait a little while before fully embracing and using this product, but would love to hear from any blondes who have tried it, or simply have views on it.
