Howdy Peaps

A simply world cup trivia question.

Can you tell me three italian footballers that have played for the national team(past and present) whos surname DOESNT end in a vowel.

Answer shortly, if you dont get it.

i cant believe they are the only 3 - am sure as a kid i remembered seeing viecherwod in at least one world cup - cant remember whether it was 82,82 or 90 - they all blend in a bit.

Wasnt he Russian or something?  Am sure someone with far more knowledge will tell me

There are several players who have played for the italian national squad who's name does not end in a vowel, in post war years they are as follows:

Blason (1950)
Tognon (1954)
Lorenzo Buffon (1962)
David (1962)
Janich (1962 & 1966)
Tumburus (1962)
Burgnich (1966, 1970 & 1974)
Barison (1966)
Zoff (1970, 1974, 1978 & 1982)
Wilson (1974)
Vierchowod (1982, 1986 & 1990)
G.Buffon (2002)

There are also several players who were named in the squads but did not play in that years world cup:

Tognon (1950)
Gratton (1954)
Anzolin (1966)
Bordon (1978 & 1982)
Cois (1998)
Gianluigi Buffon (1998)

There are also lots of other players to win caps but not feature in world cups.

Giuseppe Wilson: Born in Darlington in 1945 Christened Joseph Wilson but his parents moved to Italy when he was 6 months old (mother was Italian, parents met while father was doing army service in Italy). Was playing for Lazio when he was capped twice during the 1974 World Cup where he played 83 minutes. He made three appearances for the Italian National team
