Help needed again to identify more photographs. These are from the 1920s, & show views of a seaside town. My guess is somewhere on the North Yorkshire coast (but I've nothing to really base it on, just a hunch).

Anyone recognise it?

Any ideas & suggestions?

Thanks all for taking the time to look.

Tonji.

Yay!!! another mystery!!

well it has to be england, because it's so bloody grey.

sandy beach rules out a lot of the south east coast.

have you thought about south west, around the cornwall area?  Why'd you say yorkshire?  Is it because the guy in the picture looks like he's wearing an andy cap?

South West is a possibility, I'm not very familiar with that part of the country. Yorkshire is purely a guess. The guy does look like a Yorkshireman, but everyone did in the 1920s Cheesy

The shape of the bay looks very similar to Newquay.

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?oi=eu_map&q=Newquay&hl=en

Especially the 2nd photo - looks like it was taken from Lusty Glaze Road (search for it in Google - can't find the direct link showing this road - it's off Henver Road), looking west across the bay. Compare the map with the little bit jutting out into the sea about 100 yds from the camera.

I was thinking of 2 places when I saw it, Weymouth and Newquay, trying to find that tower somewhere though, are they the same place?

thanks guys,

the tower in the first photo is a church that seems to back right on to the sea & the harbour wall.

Yep, same church from a different angle, knew it looked oddly familiar, we use to go to Cornwall every year for holidays when I was little.

St Ives was the first place I thought of when I saw the pictures - I've spent a lot of time there and love the place - but the angle threw me!

Excellent, well done Ginger, & many thanks. Great work all. Looking at the links you've given theres no doubt. I've no idea why I initially thought Yorkshire.

I've never been to St Ives, in fact I don't believe I've been to Cornwall. I'm ashamed at how little I know of some parts of Britain, I think I know Europe better than Britain.

With Blonde & Google nothing is impossible Cheesy

Whats the next one Tonji?

Well I could keep you all busy for Years. I've got a Warehouse full of Photographs, Books, Paintings, all sorts junk. I'm a hoarder on a massive scale, but it helps that its my way of earning a living, but I always seem to buy more than I will ever sell  Cheesy but I like it that way (I see it as an investment).

The next problem that I'll need solving, be sure I'll post it on Blonde.

Many Thanks again all, the sum of all your brain power is frightening....what power could be unleashed  Cheesy
