Normally I don't really pay attention to the avatars people have.  Of course sometimes I notice them if they are unusual.  Tonight while I was losing playing in a mtt on pokerstars I had a look round the table. It was probably the most attractive table I have ever sat at. It was like the walls of a model agency  Cheesy.  I lowered the level with my flag avatar.

After deciding to let some of the other players use my chips in the mtt, I then went onto the ring games. It has been going well since I moved down to lower limits. Now my max buy-in is $20. For the first time I feel on top of the game. Before while playing at $1/2 or $2/4 I was relying on good fortune and my general fishiness to see me through.

Anyway back to the avatars.  On one of my tables there was a guy with a avatar of a pirate. To begin with I couldn't work out if he was good or just plain insane.  It was only after he re-raised me all-in while I was holding Aces that I realised he was insane. He had J,8C.  The board brought a flush for him. I re-bought in and made it my goal to get my chips back from him.  His gold tooth, eye patch and feather in his hat began to really bug me shown in his avatar.  When I eventually got a strong hand again, I had another all-in exchange with him. This time I won it.

Is it just me or are some avatars more annoying than others?   This one made me play far more recklessly than I normally do.

Possibly. But the grinning pirate started to eat me up inside.  I have never been all that keen on pirates since I saw an old Errol Flynn movie as a kid.  I just found it irritating.

For some strange reason, bundles 'Running nurse with big tits' avatar gets right on my nerves. It's the stupid vacant look on her face that does it.

Btw, I'm a leg man!

Just right click your cursor over the offending avatar and you will get 4 options

1) Note: if you want to make a note of the player enter it in the chat box in the bottom left hand corner click this option
2) Block Chat: Anything this person says will now appear on the screen as "xx" instead if you click this option
3) Block Image: The avatar of this person will be turned into the blank gold circle that people with no avatar have if you choose this option
4) Transfer Play Money:  one of pokerstars's more bizarre options, apparently there was a big thing for play money earlier in the year with people actually selling play money for real money on ebay?!?!?!

That's just wrong.

Some of us earned our worldwide poker champion titles, and others just bought them.  Cheesy

Almost. But he said "aaaaaayyyyyyyaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrr Sark lad"

Why would anyone want to buy play money chips?.  Don't get me wrong Play Money games are fine, I spent a few days playing omaha H-L on them last week and it was alot of fun. I had been learning it on the PS2 and decided it was time for a real life opponent.  But I would never buy Play Money chips off another player.

I find avatars are good for remembering who the players are
but tend to agree that some are more irratating than others

If it annoys ya block it Wink

A perfect avatar for Chris Moneymaker would be the Moneymaker tomato.   I planted some up today along with melons and Chili Peppers. It must be great having the same name as a type of tomato.
