This was the wildest event I have ever played!

Ben Roberts and Harry D. were at my table, I was down to 3,000 of the 10,000 starting chips when I played 4c7c all in. Hit runner runner for the fluch and it was game on.

I had 38,000 of the 80,000 in play at the table (8 handed shootout) w/ 4 players to go and I managed to finish 4th.

I got Ben Roberts allin w/ his TJ against my Ac4c and he hit a J
Allin w JJ against AK, could not hold up
another guy allin w/ nut flush draw and 2 overs, did not hit
Final hand w/ Ah3h against Ben Roberts , I was just way behind from the start of this hand.

This was a tough loss tonight, I dont really know if I blew it or just got unlucky. TRied to play fast and kill the short stacks.
DC told me to stay away from Ben and big pots and I did that pretty well until the end.

Maybe I should have let the shorties beat each other up alittle more? I did not want to let Ben Roberts pick these guys off 1 by 1

I was just in the mode to do it myself, This one will bother me for awhile I think!

Congrats to Tikay and all the Blondites at the Vic tonight, job well done!

Hard luck Brian, you certainly have to hit your coin flips etc to win these shootouts

Which leads me to a question, Luton has a 300 shootout next Friday...you have to win a 10 handed table to get to a 10 player final where you are guaranteed doubling your money

How would you guys approach winning this 10 handed table?...45 minute clock, 5000 starting chips

Tightend,

Sounds like the sort of structure where you can be patient in the early stages (AA-TT, AK AQ possibly limp in with medium pairs suited connectors if you get a passive table), obviously as it gets short handed and blinds escalate you gotta get busy, especially as its winner takes all. Certainly more play than the WSOP shoot outs with 1500 chips.

In the early stages I suggest the "DC" stealth method, lay low, be quite, pickup small pots until you have a monster!

i love these comps and the single table sats.every big comp ive played i have qualifieed through one of these.
i tend to sit preety tight and play rock an slowplay big hands.i  had a 100% record at qualifiein first time at J10through single sats until the last 300 frezzeout
it took me twice as my bb reraised me all in first with aq i had ak spades say no more.i split the comp ne way so it wasnt a bad result.(split it twice out of 3 atempts at J10). ne way cu all at luton next week.THE KID
