Why is he playing ?

He's obviously clapped out imo and has contributed very little.

Is he a Mike Brearly style "captain" ?

He really is a big let down.

Gerrard should play in his place, and then at least we can have a defensive midfielder in the middle.

He is too powerful (political wise) within the Englnad set up, I hope McClaren has the balls to drop him and remove him from the squad.

in the warm up games and the first two matches it was the first time since 2002 that he actually warrented his place in the team. Playing him avoids anymore square pegs in round holes. (I consider Lennon to be an impact player - definatly not a starter)

He isnt a starter yet.

My midfield would be:

Cole Carrick/Parker Lampard and Gerrard

If Gerrard played the right hand semi-free drifting role as he's done for liverpool all season I'd be happy. Then you accomodate 2 strikers AND Lampard in his natural position.

Beckham really is the problem right now.

I thought Hargreaves was excellent.

I must say that I do feel that Hargreaves had a good game in what is his best position.

Hargreaves had a good game?

Are you for real?

Cos everybody thinks he is shit, he has an average game, and everyone loves the fella.

He shouldn't even be in the team.

Interesting stat.

Hargreaves played 16 games for Munich last season 12 of them were at RB

Carrick played 35 games for Tottenham last season 35 of them at CM and he was the top DM opta stat wise in the premierleague last season (ahead of Makelele.)

Sven is a moron.

Hargreaves had a good game?

Absolutely nothing came through the centre. Nothing - not one chance. What more can he do?

His passing was good and he broke up play - job done.

I thought Hargreaves played well also.

I thought when England where in control of the ball they seemed a helluva lot more balanced when they had a holding midfielder as Lampard was able to make the runs he mkaes week in week out.

If I where in charge of England I would consider playing more narrow in the middle and having two raiding wing backs like Cole and Neville, Obviously a long term replacement for Neville has to be found but he can deliver quality crosses, I cant think of any young player coming through who has been given a chance at club level who is English and could do the job just now though.

Beckham IMO is crap, personally I never rated him I always thought Paul Scholes was a far better player but underated cos he had ginger hair  Cheesy

I think against a more fluid team, and a more fussy ref (as most of them are), he may find himself booked earlier and under more pressure for games if he happens to play again.

edit - Hargreaves that is...
