Rolf Slotboom's Poker Blog
Ace Speaks From Vienna - Day No. 3
Fri, 18 Mar 2005 07:00:15 -0600
Almost in the money!

---
EPT Update No. 32

A few moments before Marcel's exit, we must have lost the dangerous Robert Mizrachi as well. I told you before that at Rob Hollink's table, Kevin O'Connell had gotten the chip lead over Rob, now I am fairly certain that he had amassed these chips against the Master Classics Main Event winner Robert Mizrachi. And at the featured table, Brandon Schaefer has just made a massive step forward against the same Isabelle who just knocked out Marcel. Isabelle had aces this time, but Brandon with KQ had flopped a pair of kings plus flush draw. Isabelle made a pot-sized bet, Brandon moved in with Isabelle calling, and then improved by hitting a queen on the turn. (There may have been another queen on the river as well; I am not certain of that. Of course, it is also not that important as the first queen was enough for Brandon to gain him the pot). Either way, the EPT Deauville winner has a ton of chips now, and Isabelle has been severely crippled. 28 players left, one more and we're in the money. Once the redraw has been done, I will then also try to come up with an estimated chip count.

Rolandinho - I agree, the Scheaffer-Mercier hand does not make much sense as reported.

Rolf Slotboom thinks it played different - flop came 2-4-K, giving Brandon top pair, then the turn was a Q, giving Brandon 2 pair, & the River another Q, giving Brandon the boat. That seems to make more sense.

Bugger! We have a surprise Bubble Boy - Willie Tann!

Don't know the details yet, but Rob Hollinck now has Willie's chips - there were plenty of 'em, too.

Willie looks gutted. He is with Mrs Willie right now, maybe we can have a word with him when he calms down.......

I would love to know how the hand played out, it seems unlikely Willie would call on the end without being completely committed in that spot..

By the look of it Willie had K10 vs 10 5 for rob hollinck. 10 on the flop. 5 on the turn. Willie called all in on the river. There is a picture of him on the EPT blog. He rightly doesnt look too impressed.

Willie's exit hand was a blinds battle that went wrong for Willie. Willie held K-T, Rob Hollinck 5-T, flop came T-6-2. Willie bet the flop small, Rob called. Turn came the dreaded 5, Willie bet again, this time Rob RR'd 40k, Willie called. All the chips went in on the end. Willie kicking himself, if he moves all-in on the flop, Rob passes. Bushy thinks Willie ought to have got away from the hand on the turn when Rob RR'd.
