I like this, very similar to the Tanks suggestion about Pub Poker. Good luck with the venture and I will be curious to see if there is any interest from my neck of the woods!

Great idea, have a question though.
Myself and a group of friends travel around the south west in a minibus playing tournaments each weekend. If we were to enter this we could travel around different pubs each week and be able to use our points for the national league, right? Part of the buzz for us is to visit new venues and play our usual game of Holdem so this is great for us.

As far as i understand you will be getting the same structure and format where ever you go and we would be welcome to play in new pubs each week.

Thanks, Cal.

I feel that this is a great idea, and think this has great potential for all that get involved. The pubs and clubs etc will benefit from being actively involved in what is clearly one of ‘the’ games to be associated with and will undoubtedly attract more people through their doors..

For the players, it can only be a win win situation, free entry and the chance for new players to experience live play with no risk, with the added benefit of good prizes, which should also attract the more experienced players knowing full well they should have a good chance..…..

I look forward to it starting and will be pestering my local pub(s) to get involved.

Hey Cal, your points will count for the national league, you can play as many different pubs as you like and as often as you would like.
The format will be fixed in every pub, $2000 in chips, 15 min blinds, starting blinds 25/50.

don't want to hi-jack this thread, but there's already an established pub poker league in the south west and manchester that has been running for 10 months. if anyone wants to know more please PM me.

Great idea.

there is a free poker leauge in australia and nights are always well attended and good fun. the pubs provide prizes such as a case of beer to the winner on the night.

it's a win/win situation as it also provides pubs with increased revenue. i presume your aware of their operation as yours sounds pretty similar. if not there website is

http://www2.australianpokerleague.com.au/

i'm sure they'll give advice of problems that needed ironing out in the early days.

This is a very well established league. They are gaining players and increasing their prizes at the start of every new league, PITP will hopfully grow in the same way.

It proves that with good planning and a simple nationwide points/prize system that this can be a real hit.

Hi Dave

I would just like to take this opportunity to wish you the best of luck with the league. I know you have put a large amount of time and effort into this venture, not to mention money and I hope it is a great success.

Less than two weeks now before the league starts, this is the last chance to get your local pub signed up and to earn some good money by becoming any agent.
Pubs are signing up all over the UK, the hot areas are Manchester and London at the moment.
