I am gutted. Ullrich is a great rider.

I guess that now means Ivan Basso as the big favourite. I can't see Ullrich making another attempt at the Tour next year, shame as he's always been so close.

I have never been a big Millar fan.  It is the same as Andrew Murry now, they both seem abit too arrogant for me to like .  I will probably be caught and hanged for saying that about two Scottish sports hero's where I stay.  Cheesy

Back in 1997 when Ullrich won his first, everyone thought he would add a lot more to that. Unfortunately for him there was Pantani in 98 and then the Armstrong years since.

As far as I know Basso is under investigation as well

I agree Sark, Millar I hope has learnt from his ban some humilty. I expect Millar or Wiggins to win the prologue tomorrow.

Don't you just love the Tour. Possibly the greatest sporting event each year.

Not sure about the greatest Wink  but I do love it.  It quite possibly is the ultimate test though, the guys that do this are awesome.

Yea, I love it.  Every year when the Prologue is on, there is the same excitement and it feels like the first game of the World Cup, Open golf, Wimbledon, Olympics and Snooker World Championship.   Big sports events are so good.

I like Wiggins, he is a down to earth guy and great rider.   I always liked Tyler Hamilton as well.  He is innocent in my view.

I see Basso is also out of the Tour. This is now wide open. Who's the likely winner? Not sure of his form or his status in the Discovery Team, but George Hincapie is a very strong rider.

it will be tricky now that basso is out of the tour. when I still watch a lot (In holland the Giro and Vuelta were on live telly ages ago) I would have been able to come up with an outsider but right now I couldn't think of one.
