Had a family get together yesterday and one of the kids visiting asked to use my pc, I said yep no problem.
I now have no cd rom reader or DVD reader.
Why on earth did I trust my pc I will never know.
I have no idea what they did, perhaps I have a twiglet in the drive, but after spending hours trying to fix it I have given up for a while. If only Marty Mcfly was around I would ask him to take me back 24 hours.  Cheesy

They may have deleted the drives by mistake.  Go to Start - Settings - Control Panel and try Add New Harware.

It may not work but it's worth a bash.

Thanks for the suggestions, even Kev's  Cheesy

I joined a forum for techies and one of the bod's came up with the answer straight away. i wouldn't pretend to understand what the problem was but I did what he said and deleted a few things and it is now working.
