Despite the timely start, the hordes of players are still drifting down the mile of corridor towards the Room - Chris Ferguson didn't seem to be able to make it past the massage stand due to the crowd of guys wanting their merchandise signed...

Thousands of players, literally, are taking their shot at this $1,500 NLHE event - I think the alternates list is a good size too.

Oh, and Welcome back to the Rio!

I know it looks like I just drifted off for an hour, but that's about how long it takes to wander between all the tables - I haven't yet seen the room packed to the rafters, all with people playing the same comp - just before the players went in I missed a great chance to snap 200 tables+dealers all sitting there in anticipation...

But here are those whom I spotted while doing the "Sorry, I'm not a waitress" routine:

Skalie
Sverre Sundbo
Ariston   (Who's lasted longer than yesterday's 12 minutes)
Torstein Iversen
Karl Mahrenholz
Richard Redmond
Marc Goodwin
Dave Ulliott
Noah Boeken
Annie Duke
John Hewston
Andy Bloch
Erik Seidel
Padraig Parkinson
Barry Greenstein
Andreas Hagen
Andy Black
Mike Matusow
Tony Bloom
Isabelle Mercier
El Blondie    (2,400 currently - wanted to tell me that on the table behind him a certain Mick Stanton doubled up with quad Fives vs KK)
Carlo Citrone
John Gale
John Duthie   (sat next to...)
Greg Raymer
Peter Evans

And that's just about half the room thoroughly searched, and the other preliminarily scanned!

They've already broken two tables (or those were never used) and occasionally some announcement goes off about Alternates, but since we tend not to get that in the UK, I'm not sure for how long you can get in, how many are on the list, or if there's any chip penalty for coming in late etc.

Julian Thew is OUT - apparently 20 mins or so into the comp... Ariston tells me that's better than he fared yesterday.

Meanwhile Ariston himself has exited - this time through no fault of his own - he raised to 225 with , found one caller and then the big blind made it 600 to go.  Ariston pushed all in for just under 2,500, and the big blind called like a shot, with .  The way they deal over here (all three flop cards out at once, turn and spread) meant that when he saw the Queen on the top of the flop, he was already standing up, and wondering whether he ought to swear seeing as the 10 minute penalty would be irrelevant...

Shootout News

Blondeite Roland de Wolfe has made the Final Table of the Shootout event!  And word is that he may be the newest Full Tilter...although no sign of him in the hospitality  suite.

Womble is OUT - just caught him joining Ariston, Dubai and DPommo railing Roland at the TV final...

Apparently KJ wasn't in such good shape against AK, and after the K Q Q flop, the J turn did nothing to help him.  Doesn't look too gutted, to be honest - in Vegas there's always another game round the corner.  Even if it's an STT back at their place against us and the Poker Mansioners...

Marc Goodwin is OUT.

Tens vs Jacks

No help

Incidentally, Marc managed to double up after just 2 hands.

Sat in the blind with 2-3, he called a 100 raise on a flop of 4-5-K

Turn brings a T, Mateyboy bets 200, Marc calls.

River = A

Marc announces all-in and Mateyboy calls, showing K-K
