I have a comp with a 3200+ AMD Athlon 64 Processor; can anyone please help me, I'd like to know what the equivalence of that is in regular "Ghz" speak...

According to the System Properties ('General' Tab), it's saying 994 Mhz, but is that the processor speed or something else?

(I ask because 3200+ should be at least 2 Ghz equivalence, according to a chart I read on t'internet...)

Cheers!

Zim

Sounds about right (the 2ghz).

Try this proggy for an accurate reading of clocks:

Cheers, Bongo. thumbs up

Still a little confused, though - CPU-Z says my Core Speed is 994.9 Mhz (which is probably what I read off the System General Tab?), but there's a multiplier (Huh?) of 5.0, and a HTT of 199.0 Mhz ?

What exactly is a multiplier, and a HTT, and how do they affect the overall CPU speed?

I found another chart at http://www.thedigerati.us/info/amdcpuchart.html#64 for 64 Athlons...

they say 2000 Mhz as well.

(I want to buy a Digital TV card, it says 1.5 Ghz is minimum, so I should be okay I guess...)

I've asked someone who knows more about A64s (i have yet to use one...) than me and he says it's the "Cool and Quiet" technology in the chip that will slow it down to 1GHz when it's not being stressed (so it generates less heat and the fans can run slower so less noise).

So it shouldn't be anything to worry about.
