There's nothing on the Spurs or Man Yoo website regarding the transfer.

THE on-off, will-he-won't-he saga of Michael Carrick's move to Manchester United has reached its conclusion, with Spurs finally agreeing a deal with the Old Trafford club.

Carrick, who joined Tottenham from West Ham United for £2.75 million in August 2004, will join United in a deal worth around £15 million, with future incentives pushing the fee closer to £18 million and the Geordie midfielder has played his last game for the club, the Spursweb understands.

The deal will be completed by the beginning of next week at the latest. Carrick made 61 Premiership starts for the club, scoring twice and will become the record transfer in the Tottenham's history.

Boss Martin Jol and director of football Damien Comolli are thought to be happy with their central midfield options and are unlikely to move for a replacement for Carrick during the summer window, with a left-sided midfielder and a right-back the main priorities before the start of the season.

Tottenham have reportedly been in negotiations with Athletico Madrid this week over the pacy left winger Martin Petrov, an international team-mate of Spurs' Bulgarian summer signing Dimitar Berbatov and there are thought to be other left-sided players attracting the attention of Jol and Comolli, who came close to signing Damien Duff from Chelsea and have looked at Middlesbrough's Stewart Downing.

I bet you are gutted Nem?

Im having mixed emotions,  Sign a superb player in Carrick but loseing an AWESOME goal scorer in Van Nistelrooy.

Yeah, I'm a bit gutted. TBH, I think there isn't much between the two teams - especially after Van Nist going to Real Madrid.

But then again, it is Manchetser United - who turns them down? If we signed Duff, it wouldn't have bothered me that much; especially after signing Zokora. I just hope we can sign Petrov and Chimbonda before the season starts.

If Carrick had 3/4 or 5 years left on his contract, I don't think that Spurs would have accepted Man Yoo's bid, but he is a free agent in 2 years and £18million is a lot of money for where Spurs are at the moment. Similar to the Arse/ Anelka situation a few years ago.

The more i think about this signing the more excited i get,  the thought of carrick and scholes linking with rooney (may be another top class forward?)..... Bring on the 06/07 season.
