Who else is sick of hearing about Tommy Sheridan?    It is so bloody boring, who cares about his private life.  That is why I like EuroNews or news reports, they don't keep covering the same stories day after day.  Scottish news reports are the most dull news reports ever.  A lot of the time the report is manufactured news which makes a story out of nothing.

Has anyone else noticed the one sided way the news in Scotland is reported?   Here is an example,  when four British servicemen are killed in somewhere like Iraq.  The Scottish news leads into the story with  " A Scottish solider was killed today in an air strike in Iraq".  What about the other three blokes, are they in some way less important?

It is so badly presented.  I always feel the coverage is old fashioned and needs to adopt a more modern approach

I know  Cheesy.  But every night, they spend about ten minutes on this story.  He said this, he said that.... on and on and on about absolutely nothing       Yawn, Yawn

They feel they need to justify being called "BBC1 Scotland", and "STV" instead of "ITV"

I visited Glasgow recently and the Tommy this, Tommy that on the newspaper placards, I wondered who the hell they were on about.  I thought surely Cannon and Ball can't still be that popular around here Smiley

Careful Billy, he could sue you for that libelous clause, better change it to "the guy might like to swap wives"!  Cheesy

I agree with Sark, scottish news never strays from its parochialism. Oh no the post buses which carry ONE person a week are being scrapped, lets dedicate a ten minute segment on the role of Post buses in rural Scotland. Get a bloomin grip!

The problem is , If Mr sheridan was caught bonking a sheep, no one would have said a word, they cant as half the population of Aberdeen is keen on the same thing.

When the snooker world championship was on a few years ago, Stevens and Williams were playing the final.  That night on the Scottish news they had a five minute feature on the match referee  Cheesy. She is from Scotland.

It was the same with the recent World Cup, we report on the ref for the match because he is Scottish rather than the actual game .

its because its LOCAL NEWS the bbc news at 6 pm gives you the national and international news

if you lived in birmingham you would get the news with a birmingham swing and about midland MPs at 6 30

its part of the broadcasting agreements that the BBC and ITV have to coply with LOCAL news aswell as NATIONAL and international news

if you dont like it there is enough choice ie watch the bbc at 6pm and itv at 6:30 meaning you miss the local news and just get national and internation stuff

as for tommy sheridan its a non story but he/was the leader of a political party with a seat in the scottish parliment

if a leader of a party in the london assembly was caugh up in the same stuff 6:30 on the bbc in london all they would get is the same chit we are getting now

my personal choice is watch the A-Team at 6 pm and get the international news on bbc news24 or sky news when i want it without the local slant
