O/T - iTunes problem...
«

Has anyone else had a problem with iTunes shutting down their PC?
Whilst importing a CD to iTunes, my computer shuts itself down without warning. This happens everytime I attempt to import to iTunes.
Any ideas what the problem is...?

Have you updated it recently?
Could be any number of things mate, you are probably better off trying some of the third party software out there, just google for ipod software, i don't have a link anymore but i'll have a look later.

Updated it about two weeks ago, but didn't try importing anything until yesterday.
I've got the latest version of iTunes...

1) Go to Start>Control Panel>Add or remove programs. Uninstall iTunes and QuickTime (in that order). Restart the computer.
2) Go to
www.apple.com/itunes
. Download the latest version of iTunes (which also includes the latest version of QuickTime). Install and restart.
3) Check things out and report back with the results.

Thanks ifm...
I'm not at home at the moment, but if I uninstall and then download again, I'll loose all the tracks I've currently stored...?

No mate, it won't effect your download directory.

I haven't downloaded any tracks, only imported them from CD's.
I could re-import them after I've uninstalled / reinstalled iTunes, but I'd be happier if I could avoid doing this...

Uninstalling iTunes won't remove any of the imported tracks you currently have, it only removes the iTunes player.
EphPod has also been handy in the past

I call it the download directory but i mean the directory containing your tracks.
