Thanks for your welcoming words - it's actually some kind of relief to find ourselves once again in the Luton card room, where the 7pm start time has been reached, with one hand turnovers being dealt for the last ditchers amongst us.

If the Rio was the Poker Factory, then Luton is the Poker Newsagent, and I for one am delighted that I'll know a reasonable percentage of the field and can bring more comprehensive updates from this more Local of Main Events.

The players are actually seating at this time - a little huddle of the more myopic amongst them is gathered around the green screens with the seat draw displayed upon them... Tikay's found his table... "I have a corker...Julian Thew, Ali Mallou, Eric Barker, Trevor Reardon."  Should be interesting to watch them, especially as Tikay describes Mr. Barker as 'Ali Mallou with turbocharge.'

Let's see them take on the £750 champion, then.

Howdy, folks

There's been a bit of discrepancy over the start time, an early leaflet said 6.30, the grapevine shouted 8pm, and then others were claiming 6.

In fact, it's meant to be starting at 7pm, but alas, there has been a slight delay due to some STTs and a Super Sat over-running.

Victims Players spotted so far:

Des 'bling bling' Jonas (who said, "I'll be on that site soon as chip leader. Just say the black guy's winning")
Jim Reid
Paul King
Rob Yong
tikay (fresh off his victory)
Phil Cooklin (fresh off a Vegas trip)
Julian 'Yoyo' Thew (donning a neat tank top)
Colchester Kev (in full railing mode)
Burnley John
Barry Neville (in good spirits)
Womble
Two Sporting Odds qualifiers (one of whom is Greek and doesn't speak a word of the Queen's, and t'other has made the long trek from the Outer Hebredes)

In fact, we've just received a player list, so hold your horses for a moment whilst I take a deep breath...

And Rob Yong has got it all in, already.  With K7.  According to Kev, he was up against KQ on a K 10 6 flop... not so great, until there came 6, A to split the thing.

it's erik "not gus" hansen who chopped Luton in January

John Vaccarella, who was runner up to tikay in the 750, is a Luton cash game specialist.

This might not be Vegas, but some real big names have turned up today:

Edward Maclkeod = 15 letters
Kyriacos Dionysiou = 17 letters
Charalambos Xanthos = 18 letters

We've also got a few smaller names here tonight, most notably Dinh Le, just 6 letters, quite remarkable!
