actually, while I'm here I'd be interested for (honest) opinions on the work of this artist:

http://www.deborahvallancedesigns.co.uk/index.html

I bought a piece of her work for, what was for me, a considerable sum of money because I fell in love at first sight with it.  I've noticed since that a lot of people don't seem to see it in the same light as I do, and suspect some of them think I've gone a bit doolally in buying it.
I know nothing about paintings etc but because I fell in love at first sight with it is the only opinion that matters.
Enjoy your painting.

yeah i couldn't agree more...I don't like most works of art but if you do then you do...that's all that matters

I agree - that's why I bought it.  I'm not an art person either - don't reallly 'get' it.  I do like Dali though Smiley

I was just genuinely interested in other peoples view of it.

I went through a "Bargain Hunt" inspired phase a couple of years ago and visited several auctions to buy things, predominantly ornaments & pottery, to sell on EBay.  My wife thought I'd been taken over by an alien as I would arrive home excitedly clutching things like Beswick Peter Rabbit, Hunca Munca and an Ice cream seller Bunnykins!.

It was the mention of plates that reminded me of this as I bought several Doulton limited edition ones for around £3 thinking they'd go well on Ebay as their RRP had been around £20 15 years ago!  But no, I couldn't sell them for love nor money.

In fact I ended up giving them away as pressies for distant relatives ( forgive me!!  lol )   Funny thing is though, one distant aunt actually sent two of them back recently when she went into a home, so they clearly must be homing plates!

If anyone likes rose cottage or breezy meadow on a plate please get in touch!   Roll Eyes

Most of my purchases turned a nice profit though and I've kept some of the best/nicest pieces like Snowmen and Golly's and their value is increasing.

However my choice of some Robert Harrop Camberwick Green Ltd editions which were highly collectable two years ago has not proved inspired!

Certainly things are not looking good for my Windy Miller Fishing In the Sun or Mr Murphy's Bakery scene plus the less said about the 15" high musical Trumpton clock the better!   Grin

I have a very large comic book collection, I used to collect comics when i was a child, then about 7 years ago I Decided to collect a series of "the Spectre" which i was particularly fond of, wlel it spiralled out of controll and My collection is now worth over £19K and it only gains by the day.  I have been tempted to sell some of the most expensive ones to go a holiday or buy something nice but the way I figure it, its a nice thing to leave for the kids.

When they are old enough they can sell the lot and split the money, its all an investment now.

Best way to sell tat, only produce 2,000 of them.

Limited edition? I'll buy 30 please.

When are we going to get blondepoker to commission a special series of plates? All the mods with cheesy grins holding up their favourite cards.

Who wouldn't want to pour soup into that?
