Have a good trip and here's hoping for the best results possible from your friend's treatment.

Hello from Rotterdam ... I have managed to find an internet cafe , Its another in Stelios' quest to turn everything in the world orange, yes it the easyintercafe !!!

The trip over here was an experience, Its the first time i have ever travelled by air with someone in a wheel chair, I have to say that the help and assistance we were given was first class.

My friend Julie is now in the clinic having her treatment, and I have a few hours to kill before she gets finished, So its 2 hours in stelios' gaff then a couple of hours "sight seeing" (I might see some regular touristy bits too) Cheesy

A quick tale to keep you all amused.... when we get to Eindhoven Airport, we decide that the best thing to do is hire a car for our stay, so we go to the Hertz desk and matey gets us a ford focus, brand new, plenty of space in boot for wheelchair and luggage.... excellent, he gives me the key and directs me to the carpark to get the car..."150 Yards on the left sir, the car is black and the registration number is on the keyfob" ... So off i set pushing Julie's wheelchair with one hand and dragging her suitcase with the other (my luggage was on her lap, we are only here for 3 days ffs i bring a small holdall, she brings a suitcase the size of a bloody Pickfords truck) ... anyway, we get to the car park and both instantly start laughing as we survey a massive car park filled with what looked like 2000 cars and 1500 of those were BLACK !! ... 40 bloody minutes it took us to find that car ....   Oh well we have found it now, only trouble is, the steering wheel is on the wrong side !!!   took me a good while to get used to driving on the wrong side of the road too, I kept going for the gear stick with my left hand and whacking it on the bloody door !

So here we are, alive and well (despite my best efforts to kill us as we drove into the hotel car park on the wrong side of the road ...well, i was tired and lost concentration for a second... well thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it )

By the way ... when i take the car back on thursday early morning, Im gonna make sure i find a space in amongst as many black cars as possible, i wish them luck when they go to find it !!!

Ahhhhhhh home at last ...

The stem cell treatment has made an immediate difference in that Julie started to have feelings in her legs after more than 5 years of nothing ..... she also has a lot more flexibility to her legs as well, i doubt she will be up and running around, but the signs for an improvement in her quality of life are promising.

Ps. Holland has moved up in my rankings for places to nuke ... they are now second only to France !! ... A bit harsh, because Rotterdam was full of friendly pleasant people ... but Eindhoven was full of absolute planks, and Eindhoven airport has to be the most dissorganised place on earth.

PPS. While at the clinic I overheard some guy talking to the Doctor in a scottish accent, I was outside having a smoke when he came out, I said to him.."how come wherever I go on my travels I always hear a bloody Jock accent" he replied that "Scotland is famous for its only 2 exports ...Whisky and people" LOL

Great news about your friend Kev Smiley

I spent a bit of time over there when I worked for a big company and I quite liked Holland.  Never been to Rotterdam or Eindhoven but the bits I went to were great.  It would be fairly low down on my nuke list Cheesy
