Just booked it today and can't wait. Although I'm going on wednesday so won't have to wait long. This is my second trip since playing poker, on my last trip I managed a nice profit of about $6k playing poker only to bin that plus another couple of grand when pissed on casino games! (craps is great fun)

The rules this time are:-

1. No fecking table games
2. Stop playing cash games when tired
3. Its ok to have a few beers during tourneys but not during cash cash where I can lose my ass!
4. Go to the gym each day
5 Make it to the Grand Canyon (this is my 5th trip to vegas, never made it yet due to bad weather for flying, been in the air twice and had to turn back!!)

Gonna have a great time, am going on my tod so if any blondites are over there and fancy a few beers PM me.

OK, I'm coming home today so I thought I'd update on what happened and my results.

Firstly I stayed in the Venetian which is a superb hotel, I normally stay at the cheaper places but the poker comps they were offering seemed to be a good deal for what I was getting. The room was fantastic, one of the better hotels I have ever stayed at, and I stay at alot of 5* hotels with work, well worth it.

I booked the regular room rate which was $339 per night but that would be reduced to $160 as long as I played an average of 6 hours per day, I managed that fairly comfortably with plenty of time to play elsewhere. You also get $3 per hour of play to spend on food and drink, so didn't pay for much food during the week and they took care of my $100 mini bar bill. I have to say one of the poker managers there (Terry) could not have done enough for me and was extremely helpful.

These were the ground rules before I went:

1. No fecking table games- Lost 1k on the first night, but didn't go back, lesson learn't (I hope)
2. Stop playing cash games when tired- LOL no chance
3. Its ok to have a few beers during tourneys but not during cash cash where I can lose my ass!- LOL no chance
4. Go to the gym each day- Did I bollox!!!
5 Make it to the Grand Canyon (this is my 5th trip to vegas, never made it yet due to bad weather for flying, been in the air twice and had to turn back!!)- Woo Hoo made it finally in a helicopter, well worth it.

In terms of overall results I actually lost $1200 on poker plus the $1k on the tables. I managed a profit of $300 on cash games and played 2 tourneys (a $1k and a $500), unfortunately I bubbled in the $1k which was a bit annoying as the 5 who were paid split it for $8k each so I was told, oh well. The major problem was playing when pissed, unfortuately I can pinpoint 3 occasions when I made ridiculous bluffs that got called when chipped up on each occasion, these cost me 4k ooops!!! Had it not been for this I would have come back a significant winner.

Oh well here's to the next trip......

Sounds great. Looks like the business-class only airline (forget its name) is starting direct flights from Stansted to Vegas twice weekly from £999. I think it's anything up to £800 goat class from Gatwick with Virgin, so an extra couple of hundred squid to go business class - and from the much more convenient (for me) Stansted is rather good!

With cost of flight and comp rooms in Vegas, it's almost worth going out once every couple of months!

Now how do I tell this to the wife?

(Ah! Just found it, it's Maxjet. press release on new service here: http://www.maxjet.com/docs/MAXjetLasVegasFlight8-29-06.pdf
Starts in November. Sorry if i am not meant to post a link like that!)
