normally the chicken - i tend to put that in first as the eggs take quicker. I try to time it so that the eggs go on the plate last as if there isnt enough room then they can just go on top of whatever else is on the plate.

Hope this answers your question.

I think this should clear things up....

actually, that's note the picture I was looking for - can't find it now.  The one I was hoping to find has the chicken smoking a ciggie and the egg saying "well, I guess we answered that question!"

Eggs for breakfast, then chicken dinner.

It's the natural order of things, anything else is just silly.

ok - if we are going to look at it from a genetic point of view rather than a culinary one i say that the egg came first. Creatures were laying eggs way past before the chicken evolved from another bird like creature.

That's the ball game as far as I'm concerned.

Egg first, in all categories that don't involve alphabetical order.

And if we are specifically meaning chicken and chicken eggs, then from an evolutionary point of view something that was 'not quite a chicken' laid the first freak aberration that was a chicken egg, so it's still the egg.

but is a 'chicken egg' defined by what laid it or what hatches from it.  I would say that, in order for there to be a 'chicken egg' there must have been a chicken to lay it, in which case the chicken came first.

This has recently been the subject of an intense study by the best brains available to mankind and was reported on Sky News a month ago. Their conclusion was that the egg came first. The egg was layed by the species immediately preceding the chicken.

Seems common sense to me.

ps. surprised there haven't been any yoke jokes so far.

But what did that chicken come out of?

The Chicken is a domesticated descendant of the Jungle Fowl of South-East Asia. So peeps started keeping junglefowl for eggs/meat, bred the ones with big breasts (fnarr) to produce increasingly different birds, until at some point one of the Jordan-esque junglefowls laid an egg that produced a chick so different it was renamed a chicken - hence the egg came first.
