Here's another tikay/Red argument Mr Dog is going to lose about Papillon.

When the "coconut-raft" escape from the Island to Georgetown took place, & his mate drowned on the mud-flats, Red thinks it was just Papillon that set off, alone. Tell him, please.

Not read the book for 20 years, but I remember every detail. Correctly.

yes...on the firday it was 40-1 and on the day itself it was 14-1 ...It was Ruby Walsh's first national winner.

Ah to have been around for all this chat......
One of my all time favourite books and although I saw the film it could never compare to the perfection that is one's own imagination...........funny how the oddest facts stick out of course particularly that of the reversal of the days entries......remember wincing at this at the time.
