Hi guy's and gal's i've been playing poker for almost six years now and during this time i have played online under no less than 8 different nick names. Among them are Rigsy (an old nick name from my school days), Rigglington (a pet name from my wife), Card_Shark (i couldn't think of anything better) and Granny_smith (i was really getting desperate here).
I now feel the need to change name yet again but i would like one that i can carry forward to my live game too, the trouble is that i cant really think of one that suits me, this is where you can help me.
The challenge is for you to help find me a nick name that i will finally stick with for the remainder of my poker playing days.
This may help for those of you that dont know me:
My real name is Steve Read.
Im 42 years of age living in Lincoln, UK.
I run a taxi company and have done this for the last 15 years.
I tend to make a lot of pre flop raises and post flop re raises (im very aggressive).
After entering a pot i always lower my sunglasses over my eyes, i rarely lower my sunglasses when not in a pot.
I am often told by other players that i look very scarey at the poker table this is mainly due to me being a big guy with skinhead hair cut with at least a couple of days worth of stubble along with the sunglasses.
Recently Johnny "texas" hewston said to me whilst playing at the same table said " i aint playing a pot with you, you look evil".
I am of course just a gentle giant.
Please give me some ideas for a new nickname, hopefully after a few days i will post on blonde a shortlist to be voted on. If you need any more personal imformation about me just ask.
many thanks
Steve Read.
Be lucky.

not sure why people need nicknames in poker - maybe its to mask their short comings at the poker table, they think that a nickname will make people believe they have accomplished something in the game?
Yours Sincerely "Monkey Boy"

Sometimes you have to suffer a little bit in your youth to motivate yourself to succeed in later life. Do you think if Bill Gates got laid in high school, do you think there'd be a Microsoft? Of course not.

If you've got a scary table image, I think that's the most important thing to reflect in a nickname.
Something with one syllable that has dark connotations to instill greater fear in all that face you across the felt.
I'm working on it, all I can think of now is "The quiche" but that's not really appropriate.
Time for lunch maybe.
