I dont know what I have done to my computer, But I cannot see anything on my desktop. I have tried to restart my lappy in safe mode but to no avail.

Does anyone know how to do system restore without being able to go to start>all prgrams>etc...?

I am unable to install IE to get windows update

Soon as youre lappy starts up try tapping f8/f9 see if a menu comes up or try booting it up with the system retore disk in if that fails then thats past my knowlege of computers Smiley

Beat me too it, you googled as well.  Half way down is a site you can download the missing file from and put it where it belongs, hope that helps.

Do Ctrl + Alt +Delete to open task manager, then click "file">"run new task", type ' cmd '  into the box. In the command window, enter the following to get system restore  %systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe  That should get you to the welcome screen.

I use this

Great piece of software, basically takes a complete snapshot of your hard drive and compresses it into a secure section of your hard disc. Then it updates every (whenever you choose) so if you have any problems it puts everything back exactly the way it was.
