this might be the silliest post ever , but im fiercely competitive and need some help.

i played chase the lady , also known sometimes as hearts , the other day for the first time with my mates.

now they all play on their lunch breaks at work and stuff and this is the first tim i played it.

now i picked up the general rules and object of the game pretty quickly but didnt really understand what i was doing or why i was doing it.

so because i would love to whip their arses the next time we play i would like help from any blondes who have played this game a lot.

can you be good at it ?

 is there a strategy ?

any help would be appreciated cos im not used to being '' the fish '' when playing cards with my mates.

 cheers

I play alot online with the xbox360, there is a hell of alot of skill in the game. People who dont think there is will beat you whatever cards you get.

Problem is lots of variants of the game, rules and how people play it. Alot of people I play try and swop cards at the start to have very few of one suit and trap players who think they can go 2-3 rounds with the same suit.

Windows has hearts on it so i would get some practice. Generally i try to get rid of one suit quickly so that i can get rid of cards i don't want with no risk. Other than that it's just about putting down the highest value card that you can. Sometimes (early on) that will mean winning the trip which is fine as long as you have a low card to start the next one with. i.e. if you have the  and  Two Diamonds and you are nearly last to act. Put down the  (to win the trip) then start the next trip with the  Two Diamonds. Once you have got rid of a suit (diamonds, say), you can lay a heart next time someone starts with a diamond.

Hope this makes sense, i'm playing 4 tables + writing this.

Edit, early on, try to remember who has run out of a particular suit. Later on you can't do it cos too many people will have run out of different suits.
