So how low do u have to sink

Hi there,
I played a tourney recently where i was on button with 15 BB (3000)
av stack 6000, 40 runners left i am 35th and tourney pays 18, i have
K-10 o/s, Sb well chipped but passive BB (5500) same type of player
for me this is a golden OPP not to miss, as it happens Sb finds AJs and
i never got the better of him.
My two of my friends who where watching and are both regular winners
felt i made the wrong move, they said i could of waited a little longer but
i felt this was a push, so is there a number of BB, a player should have in
mind before he looses his fold equity.
Thanks
Neves.

Make a standard raise, why push? you can afford to make a 3x bb raise and fold if the normally passive sb gets interested. If he is really passive he may just call and you can get him off it on the flop.

That's what I was thinking too - No need to push with 15 BB's left, you've plenty of play left yet. When you get to about 6 BB's then you really should be pushing.

Does Harrington's book not say between 3 and 5 times the amount it costs to play an entire round?
So BB =200, SB=100, then once you get to 1500 chips, you should start to think about pushing and once you get as low as 900 you really should start pushing in late position with any two cards.

yeah...I prefer to push nearer 10 but definetly not with 15.

There's no need to push here. If the blinds are one and two, you can afford to make a standard raise of around 550 and still fold to a reraise.
Pushing for 3,000 seems rather unnecessary, especially with a hand like K-T which could well be dominated if called.
