Decided to download BlondePokerLeague and try the site out, entered a 350 man tourney and set off on my road of discovery.

First hand QQ, someone went all in, I called, they showed AQ and I won (hmmmm, no river saves?  Maybe this site's ok!)

lost 280 people after about an hour and a half, then something strange happened.  KK came up 9 (yes, count them!!), 9 time in a row against hands like AA, KQ and JJ.  I then had top two pairs and bet all the way, being flat called by AK, who got the straight on the river, he had a mere $200 in chip over me and I was out.

OK, no big deal, try again!

Second tourney....  Got down to last four, and this came up..

I'm in the BB with     mateyboy has been bullying the table (usually post flop) and never having a hand and calls

flops comes  so with second pair I thought I'll take a stab at the pot and bet out pot amount.

mateyboy comes over the top of me with an all in, complete overbet and once again, in line with previous actions, I thought maybe straight draw, flush draw or bottom pair so I called knowing I'd be fav going into the hand.

mateyboy shows  , I KNEW IT, only one of the remaining two 5's or runner runner spades to win.. I'm 84% chance to win (give or take)

Turn

River

...... Figures, and now the comments.

me-"Nice catch"
idiot-"well you gave me pot odds to call"
me-"pot odds?? you went all in, you didn't call!"
idiot-"you were stupid to call me then"
me-"i knew you had a worse hand and my call was valid, you got lucky, simple as that!"
idiot-"I outplayed you, simple as that!"

So, was I right to take on the maniac with such a vulnerable hand or could I have played the hand better?

Any thoughts will be grateful!

For some people outdraw = outplay.

I'd gladly call all in all day long when i'm 84% favourite to win.

I have played quite a few different sites, ladbrokes, Prima, Party and now stars. At first everything appears fine but after a while the suckouts and bad beads become so bad that I move on to a new site. Anybody else experience something similar. I only play trnys and mainly the $20/180 sngs at the mo.

There have been so many different interpretations of the word 'outplay' in poker.

Originally, Doyle used it in Super System to denote playing against a very poor player who can't be bluffed: you 'outplay' them by betting with the best of it and folding with the worst of it.

Lately, it's been used more often to denote when someone pulls off a move with the worst hand and gets another player to lay down, usually through aggression. E.g WPT commentators, "He outplayed his opponent to earn that pot..."

However. At no point is moving in with the worst of it, getting called, and then getting lucky 'outplaying' anyone.

I was playing on Party Poker about 9-10 months ago and lost to two royal flushes with quads and the same card  on the river.... not so bad I hear you say, but it was to the SAME person one hand after the OTHER!!!!  Both times he chased all the way.  If anyone is interested, I have the 'explanation' email from their customer services I can forward you if anyone wants to read it, it runs to about 300 words but despite that, doesn't actually contain any valid reason for their 422,160,768,121 - 1 odds actually dropping two royal flushes with the same crunch card on the river two hands in a row.  Sounds strange, even hitting my quads were 17,338,896 - 1 when back to back, so technically I had a one in 3 million chance BETTER of hitting the lottery jackpot than that happening.

And they say online poker's fair!!! lol
