Well 9 3 is known in the trade as the "Montana Banana"
And we all know what happens when a monkey (or three) see a banana...

It is also known the other way round as 3,9 in the States which is I am informed a Jack Benny. On my hat the 9,3 is known as Billy No Mates. To be at the table as this hand played out was undoubtedly one of my moments of the weekend. It was scary. A horror movie that transfixes you. You can feel it coming. You want to look away but find your eyes glued to it.
Still the move, was a move. We all make them. Some more creatively than others. You can't fault Matt's overall play he was a menace all evening

i will be giving a more detailed response in part 2 of my memories but for now i refer you to a post from nearly 12 months ago on the "post a picture of yourself" thread where if memory serves me correct my position at the final table saw me moved to be sitting next to the large air conditioning unit....................... Even though its the pic in my profile i thought i'd take this opportunity to post a full size one as you cant really make me out in my profile pic. Contrary to popular belief i'm actully the one sat in front of the chips guarding them - the big bozo in the background is just the messanger, i'm the brains of the outfit. I sit on the cards and relay telepathic messages to him during live games telling him what to do and when playing online i sit on the side of the laptop and do the same. Usually it works a treat but very occasionally the telepathic signals get "lost in translation" (if were sat next to any large electrical appliance usually) - this sometimes results in him raising with 8-3 o/s when i clearly told him to fold!! (this is my excuse and i'm sticking to it!!!) [attachment deleted by admin]

watching the final table start to finish I must say Matt was the business, top drawer play
His move was a corker, he only gets called by the button raiser with AA/AK/KK maybe a couple of other hands so the likelihood is that the Orig raiser folds. Of course if he gets called he might hit, which happened
Orig raiser had also been a serial raiser previously and someone needed to make a stand
Interestingly I often think to myself (afterwards, when bust out!!) when faced with a serial raiser..."the first one is a steal, the second one is another steal (getting more confident) but the thrid one he's going to have a hand cos he knows he is being looked up soon"
This KK on the button was Lightbreeze's third raise in a row.

Lightbreeze has been the most aggressive player on the final table, raising pre flop consistently
He is in Seat 6
Matt is in Seat 7
Eight left
Lightbreeze has more chips than matt, by a few thousand or maybe a bit more
He raises on the button
Matt moves all in on the small blind ("I had decided before hand that I would push if he raised again whatever my cards were")
Lightbreeze calls with KK
Matt had 93 diamonds
9 on the flop, 3 on the river
Lightbreeze goes out soon after in 8th

like i mentioned before - it will form part of my "memories part 2" post on the other thread later. To be honest i'd just seen Lightbreeze take out BigArmo in only the third hand of the final table. Lightbreeze held JJ vs BigArmo's AQ clubs and a Jack on the flop meant he took the 100k pot. He then raised a second time when he was on the small blind vs my big blind so before the next hand was dealt i had already decided that if everyone passed and he raised on the button then i was going to push all in with any two cards. Everyone passed to Lightbreeze on the button and he made it 24k i think (blinds were 4000/8000) so i look down knowing full well that whatever i see i'm going to push anyway. Like Tighty says by reraising all in to around 100k then i think lighbreeze can only call if he's only holding a premium hand as the extra 75k represesnts about half his remaining stack. When i see i think "oh bugger" but in the chips go. Was a little disheartened to he the word "call" so quickly and the fact that Lightbreeze's chips ended up in the middle before mine i knew he had a premium hand - i was just hoping for AK and to have 2 live cards. However he turned over KK and i was in trouble. And all this no more than 30 seconds after Simon Nowab announcing to the table that i was "the rock of all rocks" (or words to that effect). Flop came turn river

firstly i would like to say well played to matt for finishing second.
as for the 9 3 incident i think it was a terrible play. i know i might seem biased because lightbreeze is a member of the itb crew but imo it was a shocking play.
yes lightbreeze had raised matts blind for the last 2 rounds but had shown big hands both times to prove he wasnt stealing.
lightbreeze is a good player and can be aggressive with cards but i wouldnt describe him as a "serial raiser" a comment i find is rather unjust to his poker playing ability.
matt had been on his table for a fair while a new that he was a tight player leading upto the final table.
i hope this doesnt sound to much like sour grapes and its not intended to be but my view is that matt got caught with his hands in the till and got lucky lol thats poker !

He was on my table earlier and i wouldn't describe him as aggressive at all. I did donate a 100k odd pot to him when i couldn't let go of 56 suited to his allin with KK

Sometimes you have to suffer a little bit in your youth to motivate yourself to succeed in later life. Do you think if Bill Gates got laid in high school, do you think there'd be a Microsoft? Of course not.
