Was even better than that from where i was sitting inside the Stadium  Grin.  Hamburg's suppprt is loud and intimidating - why cant it be like that in England?

Great performance by the boys nevertheless and roll on Athens in May!!!!

Because of the Prawn Sandwich brigade at CashBurden, Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge, St James etc...

As for WHL only the Park Lane sing and a quarter of it is away fans!

The trouble at Ashburton Grove at the minute is that people who sat next to each
other for many years are now sitting next to complete strangers, at least there are 60,000 of them

thats not quite true mate.

at highbury i never sat by any of my mates because we all got season tickets at different times. now we all sit by each other because everybody could go and choose their seats with their mates.

on the other hand i know what you are saying though. i got to know most people sat around by me and most were a good laugh. but i dont know all the people around me at ashburton grove i take it that is what you mean.

what doesnt help the atmosphere at ashburton is that all of the clock end are now at the other end of the ground to the away fans and it was the banter between the away fans and clock end that made most of the noise at highbury. now next to the away fans are different people every week because these are the tickets that the club sell on a match to match basis.

Ashburton grove is superb but i do miss highbury

The north bank isnt what it is since they rebuilt it in 92. That is the problem with all seater stadiums in the UK. No atmosphere.

i was a bit embarrased by our support yesterday - albeit that these days we are blasse having been in the CL every year and getting to the final last year.

The club cancelled their trip coz no demand and i went with flight options (the unofficial tour co.) who had 62 people!!!  We had no more than 700-800 in total as a lot also made their own way over.

Flight Options did 8 planes (!!!) for Rangers tonite and i think spurs took over 3,000 (albeit its your first tri since kaiserslautern in 1999 - steve carr from the 6 yard line!!).

So it begs the question are arsenal the 2nd biggest club - i dont think so not on loyal support (that goes to celtic and rangers) but maybe as being the biggest team in London (which Nem who is very subjective will agree on) when you look abroad we have a very strong fan base so maybe we have the 2nd most fans just they never go!!  i was in turkey in the summer and arsenal had the most kits amongst the guests in the hotel.

Interestingly i think there were more germans with arsenal tops on last nite than arsenal fans.  Anyone know why so many hamburg fans were wearing arsenal tops?
