I mentioned this comp during last nights dublin report and it may well not sell out as it is in response to a rival casino. They too are running a100 freeze out comp on the same day to mark their opening in the centre of Birmingham. They however are limited to 90 runners and there is no guarantee.how i like this inter casino rivalry.

I like freezeouts more for a the reasons previously stated also beecause:-
during the 100 rebuy at a recent festival a certain sponsored player was gambling during the rebuy period, calling everything, raising everything trying to get lucky. This resulted in this player having several rebuys but made it VERY difficult for everyone else at the table, even though it didn't work for him it COULD have and that puts you out of pots you might wanna see the flop in.
He even raised the last hand of the rebuys in order to allow him to buyin and top up to the max (1000+2000+2000) which meant he had more chips than many at the table!!!!
I know it's common and within the rules but i believe it to be slighty unfair to others on a limited budget.

BTW there is a 50 freezeout at Walsall tonight.

I spoke to the management at walsall last night and they informed me that the competition is not not full up yet, they also stated that the ante structure will be an hour clock all the way though.

You spoke to the MANAGEMENT? Wow. Are they nice people Dani?

Well, whoever Management are, fair play to them. A 1 hour clock Freezeout has to be a good thing, many folks who cannot afford a 100 rebuy will love this, & I am sure it will fill.

OK, fair points! - i take back the 'it should be a re-buy' comment from earlier.  I will not be in attendance as I have some golf commitments that weekend but I am sending Mr Hill 'Senior' in my place to try and keep the family coffers growing. - should be a good event and a one hour clock is perfect!

Hi Jason.

It's 3,500 starting chips - that's plenty, it's 70 x BB.

Oh, AND a free buffet before the comp.

I think this will prove tremendously popular, & fair play to the Walsall Management for showing this initiative.

I have noticed lately that the various Casinos are really making an effort to improve the selection of tourneys, and to respond to customer feedback.

Long may it last!

just come from walsall, a massive turn out for this event, blowing the rivel broadway apart on their opening night with a massive 189 runners, plus a reseave list of nearly 30 players, i think its worth a trip if they do another?

Yeah, 187 shoe horned in(actually wasn't that bad). an hour clock reduced to 45mins otherwise there'd be 100 coming back in the morning!!
The rival casino actually filled up so dunno if they were blown apart? (with plenty of walsall regulars too).
They anounced they are doing a 100 freezeout every Sunday from now on and a 300 freezeout once a month, personally i think this will reduce the amount of folks during the week but we'll see.
BTW all reports on the broadway were exceptionally good though apparently the dress code is very strict! (plenty turned away on the door).
So maybe some decent competition for the excellent walsall.
I'll see if i can confirm their tourny schedule and post it but i think it's 3 per week with no rake and no sessions on cash games for the foreseeable!!

Walsall 100 Freezeout, 189 runners & 30 reserves? Wow, way to go, Walsall!

Nice one Dani, well done.

We'd appreciate it if you let us know the result.

Peter  "THE BANDIT "  Evans won the 100  freeze out. This guy is on fire at the moment and a great bloke too. Any sponsors reading should look no further for their next recruit. Peter is a true class act  on and off the table

Congratulations to Peter Evans!  The management are certain that this kind of small freeze out will be a regular event.  Great structure and well run.  At one stage we had two finals in play and another tournament about to start.  Great atmosphere in the Cardroom!  The final table played for over 5 hours with the blinds nicely capped at 6k-12k.  This is more play than I have had in tourneys 10 times the price!  Well done keep it up Grosvenor.  Looking forward to Luton.
