Heklp with wireless connection please..
«
on:
September 15, 2006, 10:31:52 AM »
I purchased a new WAG about a month or so ago, had a few teething problems to begin with but all has now settled, or so I thought.
As of 2 days it has taken it upon itself to discount as and when it chooses thus, costing me money as it tends to happen when I am in a tourny and involved in a big hand. Apart from ripping it out of it's stand and smashing it into tiny pieces with a sledge hammer, does any one have any other suggestions which may rectify this problem..

You bought a WAG?!?!?!
Who's was it - Rooney's, Ferdinand's, Terry's, Lampard's?

I haven't used Linksys before - could be a firmware issue?

I had three of those in the space of 3 months.
Eventually was told by Lynksys that it was an "overheating" problem due to poor design!!! - They told me to put a fan on it!! I told them to shove it and went and bought a Netgear DG834GT and have not had a problem with it in over a year!
Not much help I know but,,,,,,,,,,
Tip - Take it to a PC world shop and say you are less than happy with it, but you do not have the receipt. Ask to swap it for the Netgear. PC world are usually pretty good - they dont seem to mind that you didnt even buy it from them!

I use linksys but TBH it could be any number of things, there is a setup program on their site, you might try that.

Oh dear.....
The wag54gs has known issues and tbh is a pain in the bum! they over heat very easily and if you still have you receipt I would return it a.s.a.p as it seems you have one of the faulty lot.
James had the same one, and we tried 3 different routers (all the same model) ALL ended up going belly up.Normally I would reccommend Linksys, but this model is pants. Return it and get a Belkin instead.

Beat me to it Paul lol
If you got it from Currys, Dixons or PCWorld, and DON'T have the receipt but know the date you got it, they SHOULD be able to trace it for you.

I've just checked and i have exactly the same model, never had a problem........
Is it just dropping the connection and immediately reconnecting?

Netgear RangeMax or Belkin Pre-N are very good routers.
Bainn seems to be an expert, maybe he can give you some better advice.

Jane, I bought mine online from DABS and would of taken 3 weeks to get a replacement - so I took it to PC World and "blagged" it. worked for me
