Am I the only one who finds it irionic that Muslim outrage over him quoting an old letter describing them as violent was expressed violently?
5 Churches were attacked in Palestine and the Pope was burned in effigy in oter Muslim countries.
Oh yeah! They showed him the peaceful nature of their cause AND how very wrong he was.

It's almost as ironic as invading a country to bring democracy and freedom* by torturing people and detaining them without trial. * or to remove the danger of wmds that don't exist ** or because of links to al-queda that never proven

I may disagree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to mis-attribute this quote to Voltaire.

Generalisation is a sign of ignorance. Ignorance breeds violence. Get yourself educated a bit more (and please do not use The Sun or Daily Telegraph as your reference). I can give examples of Europeans and Americans who call anyone with dark skin a terrorist and probably other examples of attacks by white Christians on Muslim communites. But this kind of debate would lead to nowhere. (Just to stop you wonder I am not a Muslim nor Catholic) Your comments are simplistic and a bit telling about your knowledge about the world in general so perhaps it would be useful to read the pope's speech to start with, then learn a bit about the history of Middle Eastern conflict (I would advice you to go back to 1916 and The Sykes-Picot Agreement of May 16, 1916,between France and Britain)- but 1916 is a good starting point and then come back and post your comments. Just a bit advice - while you will be reading a fascinating history of the 20th century in the Middle East try to look for fairly objective versions of the events.

Wow,
I was only kind of joking and certainly not narrowing the whole Muslim community into one brief sweeping statement, but I wonder why you only quote my comment about them being touchy and ignore that my 'generalisation' was based on the killing of a nun and churches being burned down because of comments made by the Pope. It happened as a result of the Pope comments and no other reason.
It wasn't a smart thing to come out with but the backlash that has happened isn't justifiable.

interesting thing is..that the killing of white people in somalia is a daily occurence...it has hapepened at regular intervals the killing of preachers and all that. It is mainly militia that do it (the same that kill a few 1000 people every year or so) now people just think they have an excuse

The Pope makes a statement that condemns anyone using religion as a vehicle for violence & look what happens. It appears that if anyone even implies criticism of the Muslim faith then certain extremists take this as justification to kill & maim in the name of their religion!

Not justifiable, but entirely predictable.

Regardless of wheather or not you agree with the Pope's comments, I think we should all be entitled to say what we want. I have a mate who said this to me the other day " I would hate to be a bird in a Muslim country ". When I asked him what he meant, he said he wouldn't want to be a bird because anytime you see the news 'All the Muslim's are shooting their guns in the air with blank looks on their faces". I don't know if I agree with my mate or not but it is his opinion and he should be allowed to express it without being condemned

Unless of course, you assume That I am G Dubya and I launched the invasion and gave the reasons behind it. Or perhaps you just assume ALL Americans are the same. Amusing ow your crowd routinely shits on all Yanks the same whilst accusing us of stereotyping all of a given race or faith. But Hey! I guess it is certainly more vogue these days to ANTIAMERICAN then to actually speak out against the other hypocrisies of the world....In this case Muslim leaders callin fo death and war in response to the Pope Alluding to a violent nature in Islam.

Lads get this THREAD off here to **** as you can see where its going. Religions should not be dissussed on any forum as it ALWAYS turns sour as a small few are dedicated to their faith. I'm a good old Irish Catholic and whatever oul Bendo says is ok with me.
