The girl standing in the middle of that photo is dead and has been propped up using a metal frame. You can see it by her feet, just a little. It's one of the Victorian "memento mori" photographs that families sometimes took of loved ones. There's probably many others, posing the dead was not that unusual in these photos.

It is from a gathering of double bass players.  Not sure which picture is more sinister.

bloody hell - I would shit myself if I saw a kid wearing one of those balaclavas on a dark evening!

Those balaclavas should be totally outlawed. I've seen them before, but I've always woken up shortly afterwards in a cold sweat.
