the east coast of scotland is more built up than the west coast so makes the west coast a much more pleasant drive (unless your trying to get somewhere fast) although personally i like a drive thru the grampain mountains i still find new villages everytime i go for a drive

Thanks Iron. I sorta thought I may go up the left side, & across the top, which looks really wild. Not seen the right hand side, except for St Andrews, & it holds no special appeal to me.

I saw them one day, I think I was up somewhere near Oban. They had a seal sanctuary too. SO much to love about the west coast of Scotland. And all those lovely little villages - they all seem to have a big, stone, white painted obelisk, or Memorial, too. And we went to a village where there was a tale about a dog, whose master had died, & the dog stayed by the body for an age. I think.
