well...i've been a bit naughty and stuck $30 into my account to play the bounty comp tonight, and am now into a $10 MTT.  Don't want to jinx myself, but I'm sitting quite nicely in 4th atm.

edit - boo, out in 26th with TT vs KK

Good luck I hope it swings round for you. Taking a break and moving down levels as previously mentioned are all good advice.  I found that I used to go broke quite a bit of the time, mostly due to the size of my bank roll and the swings of no limit. One day I started playing hi-lo stud, a game I had toyed with but not really got too intrested in. I got talking to  some guy at my table and he emailed me a copy of a book he was working on for stud Hi-Lo. I read it and  I have never made a deposit since. The split pot limit games really even out variance and I cant remember  having three consecutive losing sessions, it helps pay for my MTT NL play which is very swingy. PM me if you want a copy of the book I'm sure he wont mind.  Good luck.

Do you play more than one table Claire?     I am terrible at playing lots of tables and especially STT where you are in the last 3 players on both tables. I have said before I think tank is an Alien, I just get confused when everything is beeping me at the same time.   I know from having played you in the past that you play 2/3 tables together.  Maybe if you just play one and focus all your energies on that.   I can't cope with more than two, my brain starts to hurt.   I thought you were no longer playing MTT now and just concentrating on STT?

Have you tried heads up games?  I'm not particually good at them but Laddies gave me a free $10 for something or other and as it wasn't enough to enter a $10 mtt (because of the rake) I decided to have a heads up (had enough for the rake of the hu in my account).  Doubled up nice and easily, wasn't particually hard game.

I tried to log into Ladbrokes last night.  I kept getting an error message, I may have to re-install it at some point, although it has been months since I actually played there .   The HU games on tribecca are my favorite because of the wide mix of limits. On Stars you are restricted to $5 and up-wards

I'm just completely fed up of the whole thing now to be honest.  I think I am at where Suzanne was at a little while ago.  I'm just going to stick to league games and freerolls for a bit.

It will come back Claire, I am slowly getting there.

I was down to $30 when I gave myself a severe talking too, I decided to go back to $1 and slowly build myself back up. The standard on there is awful and I soon got bored with it but at least it gave my confidence a bit of a boost knowing that I was better than that.

I grinded out a few $3 taking me up to $60 but then blew $22 in last nights rebuy though I felt I played it as well as I could have so no regrets there. Tonights bounty will be another $10 donation then its back to the grindstone.

I have discovered 2 things though.

Freerolls are a complete crapshoot and any 2 cards can win so I have started loosening up a bit and seeing more flops that I might not have before as was suggested by a fellow blonde and its surprising how many times these cards hit (but then again you know that already  Cheesy) Still havent cashed in one but ive been close.

The other thing is I have discovered is that I do better in a normal speed game than I do in an extended game and when I thought about it I realized that it was when I started playing extended that I started to go downhill.

When I started playing extended I use to love them, longer blinds meant that you could sit back and wait for "good" hands so I wasnt watching the clock and subsequently wasnt pushing as much or stealing blinds when they were sitting there for the taking. I had in effect gotten "lazy" and had lost my aggresiveness. The game in effect had become boring and my loss of interest would result in me making a silly move when I know that someone had me beat, but still I would push my chips in.

I feel quite pleased with myself that I can analyze where I am going wrong and make adjustments, so the confidence is slowly coming back.

So dont worry Claire, you are a good player and it will come back.

As Matt says "THINK POSITIVE". You set yourself a goal...dont be put off because you have fallen at the first hurdle.

good post, I agree.

I was in a very similar postion to you suz after cashing out everything a month or so back to pay bills, I had no BR at all.  The Freerolls are insane and the first couple I was knocked out after playing way too tight. But after adopting a more aggressive approach I cashed in five and that is what my current BR was built from. I then started the $0.25 STT on VC and slowly build up to the $10 + 15 STT I am at now after moving to another site last week.    I am crap, you are in a much stronger postion regarding ability than I am Claire.  I know you can do it  thumbs up

I went away from cash games because I have a self destruct part of my brain. This is annoying in my daily life as it causes me to do very strange things without thinking, but it is extremely annoying while playing poker because it causes me pain and to lose money.  I like STT because if I don't cash, I lose $20 rather than $150 on a moment of insanity. I can't control it, I am cursed  Cheesy

When you become a big star cash player mate, allow me to become your first student  Wink

I don't see myself becoming rich playing cash unfortunately - there are too many donks around Cheesy  When I started, I had 2 great weeks when I made a nice amount.  Then the next 2 weeks, I lost around 2/3's of it and it made me feel pretty bad - I couldn't work out what I was doing wrong.   I think I became too loose.  When I started, I was playing tight as you can get and getting paid off when I hit.   Then I became too confident but not good enough to outplay people, especially those that will call with anything in case they get lucky.  It certainly does get to you when you loose a bit of money.

Mtt's are where I'll become a famous player then they'll  invite me to the Big Game and I'll lose it to them Cheesy

Good luck  Cheesy ,  you have to think positive about the big game.  Doyle will be too old by then so you will be able to trick him, Gus will probably be busy entertaining all his girlfriends, Phil Ivey would have moved on from playing poker and will be concentrating on his pacman game instead, DN will be building his poker business empire, Patrick Antonius will be gone as well. The fast cars, money, women and fame will leave him a poker burn out at 30 yrs old.  You should have a clear run to the $1 million pots  Wink
