Billy I play paintball as well as airsoft so I do know what Im talking about. If paintballs hurt more than airsoft guns then they are against the law. If you fired a weapon more powerful than an airsoft toy (they are classed as toys) such as a gas powered BB gun, its classed as an "assault with a firearm" and carries a mandatory prizon sentence.
So you take a look at your facts before spouting what is complete bollocks.
just a few FACTS
im doing a bandit!!
if a paintballer marker fires over 330fps with a standard weight paintball then it is considered to be above 12ftlb and for a rifle this is classified as a Section 1 Firearm and requires a licence called a firearms certificate, and a pistol above 6ftlb is again a Section 1 Firearm requiring a firearms certificate in the UK.
Under 330fps if we are all responsible then we pose no threat to the public.
This is not true. Under 330fps, whilst not being classed as a lethal weapon (and not being classed as a firearm) you ARE classed as an air weapon, and cannot be sold to a minor under the age of 17 years of age.
If you fire an air weapon at someone intentionally, you commit an offence of "assault with a firearm". In the law as it stands in this country, although not in the class of licenced firearm, air weapons are classed as a firearm for the purpose of this law.
However there is a limit at which they cease to be classed as air weapons and become classed as "toys". Laugh all you want, its ludicris, but its true.

To be fair to everyone, Please read the first line of the warning for both guns.

Airsoft weapons are at the very tip of the power of what can be legally fired at another person without being classed as an assault. Paintball ones (legal ones) are also in the same category. Now, whilst a paint pellet is bigger and heavier than a plastic BB, thus carrying more weight behind it and therefore a bigger surface area for the hit.
This stuff is so funny, Please continue mikky, only so i can paste this on to another forum so we can all
laugh at
debate your expert knowledge on the subject.
Billy after this post it is clear you know nothing about the law as it stands in the United Kingdom. When does the law in this country ever make sense. Unless you have something constructive to say, how about kindly shutting the f up?
Looks like the words of a man found to be BS-ing to me. Anyway just to clarify mikky I am an avid paintballer and I have played more than my fair share of airsoft games ( usually when waiting for the rest of the paintball team to arrive ), I am a member of the UKPSF and I do know where I stand withing the law as my rights to use and participate in paintball sports.
Now it is yourself that is talking utter garbage, if you had an opinion that is differing but you started spouting facts, That were wrong by the way. As for me shutting the F up, well thats a request, i will politely decline your request and continue to correct your mistakes. Now if you are in need of a bigger spade you are all outta luck, but your "facts" are digging you a deep enough hole.
referring to saying something constructive, Every post has been constructive mikky, you are the person posting nonsense, I am merely correcting you, i must admit i am enjoying the laugh at these fictional "facts" of yours.

Well call the cops Mikky, Just about everyone at a paintball site fires off their marker intentionally so i better get ready for the police to send me to the "big hoose", I Suppose I will have company will all my paintball buddies in there with me and your frequent 3 - 6 month visits i should survive whatever the magistrate throws at me.
By the way, who even brought up the selling of paintball markers to under 17year olds?
One last point, If i am ever in doubt of my facts I usually defer to the experts ( you should try it). If you really want to knwo about the law and paintball have a look at the UKPSF site and you will find just how far off the mark you are >:?

Just incase you need help finding it!
I think I have corrected as much nonsense as you can throw at me, i think i'm done.

I own a nice blue gun . Here is a picture of it
http://www.amazon.com/Namco-GunCon-2-Light-Gun/dp/B0009XZZ9O
I generally use it to shoot zombies and ninjas. Sometimes I use it to kill ghosts as well . I also have regular gun fights with opposing armies of violent soldier's, I am not really sure why they fire at me and I would rather just chat, someone has to do the job I do though. It is a difficult life I have, most people would cry if they saw what happened to the zombies I have met in battle
I really am a tough guy

Billy, the definition of toy, as in UK law:
Current wisdom from the FSS/H.O. seems to indicate that they have reviewed the point at which a toy becomes a 'lethal barelled weapon' in the eyes of the Firearms Acts 1968-98. Until recently, this was viewed to be 1.35 Joules (in Airsoft terms, a muzzle velocity of 377 feet per second using a 0.2 gram 6mm Airsoft BB pellet). As you note from the heading above, this has apparently changed. In the light of this new interim information, Practical Airsoft is recommending that no Airsoft model be upgraded to be capable of firing above the generally regognised playing site limit of 1 joule (328 feet per second using a 0.2 gram 6mm Airsoft BB pellet); this new recommendation also includes all single-shot rifles and pistols, not just gas blow back and Automatic Electric Gun series Airsoft models.

So, I am stating this as fact. Paintball guns are classed as TOYS.
