John Toshack's
Steve Mclaren's too!
Rooney's in a slump, the midfield didn't function, Macedonia played well and Gerrard is now suspended. for a tough trip to Croatia.......

I thought Macedonia were very good. Delighted with the result after taking 0-0 at H/T.
Same team Sven put together only no Beckham. Wrong manager, poor team. Would big Sam put up with that crap?

No he would have us playing long ball.
He himself also says he would have dropped Rooney.
Two reasons why I am glad he is NOT England manager.

I honestly can't see why Crouch is in the team.... (hold on......)
I know he has scored X in X games, but it does matter than X of those X were in friendly games where the opposition got thumped.
If England were to play with two out and out wingers who consistantly delivered crosses then I would concede. But at the end of the day the 'new' England starting 11 will have no natural wingers and as well as Stevie G can deliver a ball they will always be diagonal passes rather than tempting crosses ~(there is a difference!!) With SWP playing on Wednesday we should see what he can provide (though his ability to run and beat people excites me far more than his crossing)
From Saturdays game it would be too harsh to single any player out as having a bad game, but that does not prevent analysisng a players game - Crouch - Why can he not hold the ball up and why does he feel the need to foul the defender EVERY time he goes for a header? His goal scoring recording is hugely inflated at the moment and I fear his selection on that basis will cost us over the next two years.
A large part of the problem is admitly Defoe either not playing or not scoring regularly for Spurs at the moment, but it was clear to see we lacked someone to get on the shoulder of the defence to create the hole for Rooney/LampLard to run into.
So what am I trying to say... Well basically we are still going for square pegs in round holes... McClaren needs to find his formula and apply the players to it... and quickly.
Needless Rant is over!

I saw plenty of evidence of "long balls" tonight, lumped up to Crouch. I would also drop Rooney until he shows some club form again. Why continue to play him? He is creating nothing and scoring less.
Sam gets the best out of his players. Bolton are one of the toughest teams to play in the Premiership. That doesn't make him right for the job, but I think he is more right for it than Sven McClaren and Tord Venables.
Outclassed by Croatia. Embarrassed by Macedonia. Are we Scotland in disguise?

Saw the second half of the Scotland game and for the most part they looked pretty composed on the ball and tried to play a bit. About to watch the England highlights but don't expect to see any tidy football and really don't think England will perform well in anything given the makeup of the team and the lack of 'pride' and 'intelligence' on display from the players over the past few years. Just my opinion but the players really don't look all they're cracked up to be.

Appauling, no other words for it. Bring back Beckham, he played with pride most of the time.
I'm swapping to NI. I was there at the weekend - I think you'll find that qualifies me
