I am looking at organising a charity poker tournament in London for c. 100 people. Be specific to an industry sector with the prize pool split between charity and the final table. No rake etc and no one makes a profit out of it (except the lucky guys who make the final table).
My question is where can i LEGALLY hold this tournament as it will receive coverage etc so i dont want a situation 2 days beforehand when i find out that we have to change venue or we cant give out cash prizes etc.
The obvious answer is The Gutshot, but are there alternatives like using a floor in an empty office building or a nightclub (which is closed for the evening) or even a hotel.
Any advice gratefully received
I have a lot of media/charity experience and play with a couple of guys who own london nightclubs and/or casinos.
As I understand it, it can be quite easy to set a comp up on this basis - but it all depends on the goodwill of the venue owner - which mainly depends on which charity it is.
If you want to let me have more details I will pass it on if you would like me to.
Tracey
It really depends on the charity as to
