I'm not feeling tippety top at the moment. I think I've got man flu, I might even have caught a belated bird flu or one of those new ones, panda flu or something. But either way, I've got a cough, sore throat, bunged up nose and an aching noggin. I also feel pretty whacked, no energy whatsoever.

Normally, I wouldn't be that bovved, I'd take some cough medicine or something and just ride it out, but this week is different. As you all know, tomorrow is the Grand Prix final, and due to updating many of the live events, this is in fact my biggest ever live comp.

I'm a little bit disappointed that it looks as though I'll be going into my biggest ever comp with these symptons, as I don't get too many opportunites to play for the big bucks and I really want to be on top of my game, not worrying about splurting my guts over the table. Therefore, I was wondering, on the off chance, if anyone knew of some old wives tales or secret remedies that could aid my current state within the 24 hour period before my afternoon kick-off.

Any pearls of wisdom would be much appreciated.

that will teach you for roaming around hampstead heath at silly hours of the night wearing next to nothing ..... And telling the cops that you were just looking for George Michael so you could get his autograph is a poor excuse !!

Rest and relaxation. Don't play online for a bit.

Anything that needs to be done, do it later. Time to chill and get better.

ooh, and drink a litre of Tropicana

The very last hand of the night goes to Dewi James, who finds ACES and talks Raymond O’Mahoney into calling his all-in preflop bet of 15k.  “If I had AQ, I’d call!” says Dewi.  Raymond calls holding pocket 66’s.

Bed, Ibroprofen and paracetamol (you can take them both together safely, profen stops inflamations and aching limbs whilst the paracetamol and profen together will numb your pains). Profen does not contain paracetamol. Don't do this too often however as prolonged use does have a temporary effect on the liver.

BTW I'm not a doctor. Like the packets say, seek medical advice. But I know that works for me. Along with chicken soup and bread cut into little quarters, and a nice warm duvet, plump cushion and a doseage of kids TV.

If you are feeling like this still tomorrow then I'd advice a heavy doseage of pro-plus alongside your doseage of Ibruprofen and Paracetamol. You will feel a rush for a few hours which will counter your flu effects. And avoid alcohol for the duration unless you want to go really dolally (actually its jolly good fun).

Drink plenty of water too.

No magic cure I'm afraid. What I usually do is have some Nightnurse or something else that makes you drowsy and sleep for like 20 hours. The body seems to be more efficient at recovering when you're asleep.

Hope you feel better for the tourney mate.

force yourself to spend a little time on the nest if you know what i mean. This is proven as it releases various chemicals that are very powerful into your system and gets a sweat on.

I pity the .....  actually, lets not go there.

Supping yourself up on pharaceutical remedies will only hide the symptoms, not prevent them.

They're for tomorrow, just take the man flu like a man today. (although I'll let you off with Nightnurse or summit, to ensure a good kip)
