My sister after a recent visit got hooked on poker and went home with plans of getting a pc so she could play.
Shes had a bloke in to set it all up with BT Voyager 210 so shes online but it wont let her download any poker sites, she gets so far then it just does not connect to the card room.
With Mikkys help we checked her windows firewall and that seemed to be okay so Im guessing its her router firewall.
Ive tried googling for a few hours now to try and find out how to fix the problem and im tearing my hair out here coz to be honest im not sure what im looking for.
Can anybody help please with either simple intructions or a link to a page that might solve the problem.
Thanks in advance.

Has she got a 3rd party firewall? Norton blocks poker sites.

Sometimes you have to suffer a little bit in your youth to motivate yourself to succeed in later life. Do you think if Bill Gates got laid in high school, do you think there'd be a Microsoft? Of course not.

From what I can gleam from the typical woman non-tech speak...
What is happening is that the installer downloads fine (bsqclientinstall.exe), she runs the executable and the blue screen windows installer gubbins pops up. When it gets to the actual downloading of the meaty content within the installer, it pops up an unable to connect message.
I'm fairly sure that the download is taking place over HTTP which means it probably isn't a hardware firewall and it should just simply work unless there is a software firewall blocking non-registered programs from connecting to the internet.
The Windows firewall "This application is trying to access the internet" message doesn't appear so it can't be that.
Without having some proper tech speak I'm at a loss at what to suggest. Lets hope someone else can take over !

IFM asks the right question woo hoo you've gotten further than I could. "She doesn't have a firewall". Mmkay Tell her to allow applications to connect to the internet in nortons. She might have to right click in icon in the bar next to the clock.

This refers to the game Neverwinternights but if you substitute the poker client for it this will work.
